Speeches are nice, but from my experience dont work out.
My wife had a well written speech that she studied and was reading off during the recepstion. When it came down to saying it, she started crying. I tried to come to the rescue and help her out, but I too started to cry.
The best bet let it come from the heart. Talk about the memories you've shared and her growing up and the this wedding day.

If he needs some guidance, he can find some examples of wedding speeches here:
http://www.hitched.co.uk/speeches/examples/showbest.asp?type=3
I think it will be very useful to him but remember, it is best to speak from the heart.

They have a free speech and toast guide with lots of toast examples.
The speech guide is great because itprompts into writing your own "from the heart" speech by posing questions and suggested topics.
Good Luck. I'm sure he will do great.

My husband has had to do this twice with 2 of our girls in the past 3 years. He found that it worked out best if he just spoke from his heart and there wasn't a dry eye in the house after he spoke.
He spoke of raising them and enjoying them as they were growing up and even about giving them up to their wonderful spouses and how he would miss them.
Tell your husband to just speak from his heart and everything will be fine.

About.com has a great wedding reference page. I was looking for the speeches section but couldn't find it, but I know I've seen it.

Agree with the above - heartfelt with reference to the past in a special and humurous way, short and sweet is better than a long made up drawl not specific to herself.

I agree with the first answerer. Have him speak from the heart and make it personal towards her and her new husband. But, try http://www.wednet.com/inspire/speech1.aspx if he needs some inspiration and guidance on how to set up his own heartfelt words!
