I remember my wedding gifts and who gave them to me. Here's my advice based on that:
Even though you could get her something from the registry, think of something that she always wanted but hasn't been able to get...You can get something from the registry that you know that they will both like; but also something different that she would like. For example, my in-laws got us each an ipod. It's still my favorite wedding gift... :)

Buy her and her fiancee a dinner and the means to fix it.... A collander, a couple sauce pans, a spaghetti spoon, a serving bowl, a bread basket and such along with the fixings for a spaghetti, salad, and breadstick dinner for 2...
Package it all in a lovely box she will really like it..

Does she have a registry? A great gift, if she likes to bake, is a kitchenaid mixer. They are one of those gifts that someone doesn't want to go buy for themselves, but it seems to me is a necessity.
Good Luck!

I think for a sister, a nice gift would be a picture frame. Like fined a nice one and put a nice pic of you and her in it or all of you, if you have more then one sibling. Or another one i think would be nice is a scrabbook.
