Bungalow - Interesting name, how did it come about? Like This perhaps -
Some builders were building a house (red?) and ran out of bricks. The foreman said "Bung a low roof on it lads"!!! :-)
So - no room or need for stairs (red or any other colour)

Possibly grey (the colour of concrete) cos the only stairs in a bungalow would be to a cellar - if it had one.and you would not put a carpet on them
