A guy told me that he's OLD, but he still plays rackets and tennis for recreation. I told him I don't believe him because rackets and tennis are NOT for old people. I'd like to know how old is TOO old for any one to play sports and/or rackets? Thanks for your help.

You are too old when you can't dodge the ball and get hit, regularly. Or when your joints hurt too much when you run, twist suddenly, etc.

The old people Olympics remind us that person in their 70's and 80's can live active sporting lives, if they are healthy enough.

The oldest woman in the world passed away recently, I was told, at 116 years of age.

The real answer is that if you play for 1 hour and then ache for 8 hours you are beyond that game. A lot of people like to pretend that they are playing active sports just so that people will tell them "I don't believe you are old because you are playing." Many of them hang around the tennis club to gossip with other old timers about having tennis elbow. They do as little active playing as possible. Don't take those claims seriously.

As long as the person can handle it, there isn't an age limit. My mother-in-law plays tennis and she is in her 70's. She plays with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren and she has a blast. If you think that any of us in the family are going to tell her she is too old, your nuts. And the kids have fun playing with her.

She doesn't seem to getting any slower either.

People can play tennis or racquetball to their 90's if they are in good health. Of course, more strenuous like football would probably end at 40 moreso from injuries than from anything else.
