What you can do is find something to do that is fun to do in a larger group, preferably something that will allow you to talk (so the movies might not be such a great idea) that you both like, and some of your friends also like, and then suggest getting together.
It seems to me that things like going to the beach or lake, if you have one nearby, picnicking, or going to a sports event or a concert and then going out for dinner or dessert would serve your purposes well.
Another thing: you probably want to have an odd number of people in the group, to avoid that 'Noah's Ark' effect (you know, the animals walking into the Ark two-by-two...)
So, when you've decided on the guest list, you can say, 'My friend and I want to go out and do such-and-such, and we each thought that some of our friends might be interested, so we agreed to each invite a bunch of people and make it a group activity.'
By the way, she sounds like a sensible girl, worthy of your respect. So obviously you want to pick sensible people to take with you, who aren't into doing stupid things like getting drunk, joy riding, etc. but rather are suitable for reasonably intelligent conversation.
I know I have a gang I go out with on Sunday afternoons after church, and if there's someone new at church that we don't know yet, we just invite them to come along with us, and it's fine. So I would imagine it will work out fine for you too.

Just go out with her and her friends, that way she would be the most comfortable and give you a chance to see the real her. Good luck.

Her friends, your friends--- If you combine the two groups, good things could happen. At worst, you may come up with some new friends, or maybe even find that you are more interested in one her friends.

Just next time you ask her to hang out, tell her you want to go with just her.
