I lost my camera at Disneyworld, and some nice people returned it to Lost & Found. I got it back at the end of the day!
I believe that most people would turn in a lost camera. They know that everyone's pics are personal and important to us.
Call the Lost & Found/Customer Service at the places or stores you have been. Think back to the last time you remember having it.
But if nobody has it, and you cannot find it around home or car, just let it go. By now somebody should have turned it in.
I'm sorry if you lost your camera...

First thing. I think most people are very honest and would hand in a camera if they found one. What you need to do
1. Think back to the last time you remember having the camera then make a list of all, absolutely all the places you have been since then.
2. Call each place - have a good description of your camera and about the date you were there, time too would be a great help (this shows you are serious). Insist you want to leave your name and phone number should they find it
3. If you think you know where you may have lost it, yet it was not handed in - write in, giving a good description and enclose a s.a.e.
4. Report it lost to your police station and other stations near the places you may have lost it (if you are nearby)
5. Have you looked in your car, under the car seat, in the boot?
6. Have you searched all the drawers, cupboards, garage...of your house
If you do all the above, you have more than a good chance of finding your camera

I would not turn it in cuz it would "disappear". Instead I would go to the service desk and tell them that I had found a camera without going into too much detail. For example, I might say I had found a Nikon camera but not the model. I would leave my contact information and say if anyone came in looking for such a thing they should call me. Then I would follow up and call them every few days.
The problem with leaving the camera at the service desk is that anyone who works there could take it home or have a friend of theirs come to the desk and "claim" it.

I would try to find the owner, or take it to a lost and found. I would also leave my name and phone number with it, in case the owner never claimed it.
I've lost cameras too, and most of the time, I never see them again.
Here's what I do when I lose something. I sit and meditate on it. Imagine yourself with it. Trace every step you took in your mind, knowing all along where your camera is. It might come to you where you left it that way, and narrow down where to search.
Sometimes, just meditating on the item, and letting your mind go blank brings to mind a place. Go to that place. It sounds strange, but has worked for me more times than not.
Good luck!

I found a camera at a national museum a few years ago and turn it in. The person who's camera it was turned out to use it as a hiding place for their passport, travelers checks and I.D. That made it easier for the people at lost and found to find them.

Bummer....If I found one I would put an add in the paper , and put up signs where I found it . Same for lost...If it was high-dollar then call the police and treat it as stolen-at least the person who "found" it will get thier "just reward" when the popoes run the numbers on it! Look for it at pawn shops - e-bay - or the paper who knows they may be stupid enough to try to sell it.Next time don't let it out of your site!

You want to find your camera, set down and think, what was I doing when I last had my camera. back track every step in your mind. If I found one I would take it to the lost and found department, or customer service. Have them put my name on it as person finding the camera, and if owner did not clam it in 30 days I get a free camera.

Try calling lost and found at the most likely outside places. Look really carefully around the house. As you are doing that try to reconstruct in your mind when you last saw it and then concentrate your efforts on where you were after that. Good luck.

u are asking if some one found ur camera would they return it to u? i think u r asking to much of today's society. but u never know do u. i think u would have found the camera by now if u left it in or around ur house. if u have to replace it as it sounds like u will, u will not make the same mistake.

I think you should look for your camera at a camera dealer. That's where I found MINE after someone stole it out of my car at the carwash. Of course, I didn't get my OLD camera back, but I found my NEW camera after the old one was stolen...
