ERGONOMICS & PREGNANCY

I just learned something new. I guess I will stop listening to my loud music.

Here's an article that answers your question. I know that anything over 90 decibles is considered an unacceptable level of noise in a factory. You might want to find out what noise level her's is at (they are required by law to test it.
From the article, it sounds like it could be harmful to the fetus if it is noisy enough. Here's the link, and congrats on your new baby on the way :-)

Ultrasound technology uses sound waves to obtain an image of the baby. The problem is, some believe, that those sound waves come at the baby like a freight train which is why the fetus trys to move away from the source. Unfortunately, the poor fetus has nowhere to go. Working with doctors, most avoid an ultrasound unless medically necessary and I haven't known a doctor yet who would allow her own pregnant belly be subject to an ultrasound.

For previous poster "richiesown": You will never experience pregnancy in this life time. As one who has, I can only tell you that you are being ignorant and rude to try and presume you can imagine the discomforts (sometimes extreme) for women. To the questioner: I don't think that the noise level will directly affect the baby, but a noisy environment is unhealthy for your wife. Anything that affects her health and well-being will also affect the fetus.

The more noise when you are pregnant, the better. The baby will sleep better in a noisy environment when born!!! That's why people say 2 hoover a lot etc when pregnant

No.My boyfriend had a really loud bass in his car and i thought it would have an effect on my baby when i was pregnant but the doctor assured me it wouldn't because of the the sack and the ambeonic fluid that surrounds the baby that protects them even your voice is muffled to the baby. Its like when your under water.

I'm sorry I don't have any scientific evidence for you, but just plain common sense. Take a one day old baby and place it in that factory and watch its reaction. Now imagine that happening to a more sensitive and more delicate life form. What do you think?

The noise isn't a problem, as long as it isn't causing excessive stress to your wife, but does the factory produce, or use harmful chemicals? does you wife do any heavy lifting? you should watch out for those types of things in factory settings. congrats on the baby!
