I'm only repeating here what others have said but perhaps I can do it in a more coherent way.
It's unlikely (though not impossible) that any software designed for Win95 will run on WinXP because they're very different 'under the hood'. Microsoft knew this would cause issues so they put the Compatibility Mode tool into XP to try and make it easier for home users to switch to it. You can find more info and instructions on using Compatibility Mode here:

If that doesn't work, and it is very hit and miss so it's not a given that it'll definitely work for you, then you need to 'emulate' the old DOS environment of Win95/98/ME to get your software working. DosBox is probably the best known DOS emulator:

Though I should warn you, it's not exactly simple to set up:

I am not a computer expert, however, I understand that Windows has a program that does not allow anyone to use older software than what is currently installed on your computer. In their mind going forward is better. I know this because I used to have Windows 95 and was finally figuring it out, when my Husband installed Win 98! No going back after that!!
Hope this helps. As I said before I am not a computer expert, just using my own past experience to help answer your question.

If it wont install on windows xp, then it is not compatible with it. If you haven't already put the CD in and see what happens. My kid brother was able to put a windows 98 cd into windows xp and it worked.
