I had 5 rules.
1. A job
2. A car
3. His own place
4. No addictions, past or present
5. No mental illness
But that will be different for different woman. If you can cover 1-3 then you should be good to start. And I say that because not all woman have priorities of no addictions or mental illness, though I think for your personal health you should try to achieve 4 and 5.

I can't speak for the rest of the female population, but I want great sex, intelligence, and a best friend out of a relationship. It varies for every woman. We are not simple to figure out like you guys are. Men (no offense) are very easy to read and intemperate what their needs and wants are.

Someone who's honest, outgoing, funny, compassionate, caring, affectionate, open-minded, optimistic, spontaneous, neat (grooming/dress), good sense of humor, nice teeth, trustworthy, MUST LOVE KIDS...
These are just a few things I look for in a man. Not looking now, I have one who is all of the above!
