if I do not have knowledge of everything. If I do not believe in any Gods then doesn't that by default make me an Atheist. I freely admit that I am not full of knowledge, but from what I do know I can not believe a God (An entity that is worshipped) created all of this. Nor do I believe in any individual entity that could have created the universe.

Earl E ,

Nice slam but atleast try to have an intelligible response. Atheism does not require a high IQ.

If you feel that you do not believe in an invisible being who created this mess, then tell me not to correct you. You do not have to be full of knowledge. What the religious are handing you is not knowledge, but stories. I knew I didn't believe in a god since I was 8 years old. No one has convinced me otherwise and I'm 57 now. You need to feel strong in your own beliefs. Check out atheist sites. There are a lot of young people who are atheists. If you are old enough to drive, there is probably a group somewhere. Or at least stay in touch on the inrternet. Good luck,

****Why do people say I can not be an Atheist? ***

Wow that's incredible, an Atheist is a person without a belief that Gods actually exist. From what you say you appear to qualify. Mostly it is probably wishful thinking on the part of the ones that say differently. The actual existence of Gods can not be verified nor proved true or false. Unfortunately the nearest we can get is to the more likely than not stage. As it is more likely than not that Gods do not exist, this is the natural human default position for sure. When folks present us with the magical, fanciful, nonsensical and patently fantastical we
as physical entities require that such things even though not verifiable or provable to be at least more likely than not to be consistent with reality. If, such a thing as Gods, can not reach at least that more likely than not stage, we are within our human rights to reject such a thing.

This is a tough Question.
I will honestly try to explain it.

If I said you can not be a human would that bother you?
If I said you have never asked a question on Yahoo would that bother you?

God defies all logic and appears as foolishness to people who want to be in control of their lives. This is someones God given rite.

If someone was to quiet all the noise that they have in their life (IE Media, Entertainment, Drugs Alcohol) Just for a minute or two they would hear another voice in themselves. This is the voice of your creator. It is there if you believe it or not.

Another way to explain it would be to ask the question. Why do Atheist get so upset about something they don't believe in? If I told you that you should be a Hari Krishna would that bother you?

An atheist is a person who believes absolutely that there is no such thing as a god or any type of controlling power whatsoever. An Agnostic however is someone who does not believe that he/she has enough information to make in informed decision one way or another about the existance of a god. Therefore, they withhold their belief until further information can be found.

You sound to me like more of an Agnostic rather than an Atheist.

You sound Atheist because you believe in no god(s). Do you have other beliefs like reincarnation, spirits, cosmic balance, etc. that might make someone think otherwise?

By the way lack of knowledge just makes you human, not religious.

Who are the wackos who say you cannot be an atheist - you can believe whatever you want, it's just that as an atheist, you choose to believe in the real world rather than live in the delusional fantasy world of believers.

Well, I don't think I've ever heard anybody say you "can't be" an atheist. I've heard plenty of people say
"... there's no such thing as an atheist." Oh, well... either way, it doesn't matter. Don't worry about them. They're just morons. You don't have to take them into account... unless they have guns, clubs and torches, of course... like the 'villiagers' scene in Frankenstein.

wisdom, knowledge and understanding are three different basics of learning, you can't have knowledge and understanding of everything, but once you base your knowledge and understanding through nature or reality you'll get the truth then you can call them wisdom. once you gain more wisdom, the more you gain control-control of your life being the highest level. eternity.
they can call you or me any names they want, but that will not change of who i am. i don't need to be identified. identification is just a form self-gratification.
