I see traffic police using a whistle all the time, so I would say yes.

Not any more. they used to carry whistles so that they could alert other policemen nearby, but with the inroduction of carriable short-wave radios, the whistles were made obsolete.

I work for a sheriffs deputy and she has one. When I asked what
she used it for she said to get someones attention when directing traffic!
So the answer is yes in Florida.

I don't think they do because they would blow the whistle for backup, now they just radio for help.

my ex husband is a cop (doesnt carry one) my boyfriend is a cop (doesnt carry one) and my uncle is a cop (doesnt carry one). these guys all work for different agencies so i'm going to say the majority of them do not carry them anymore.

They have one in their cars and use them to direct traffic at times when the stop lights go out. (depends on the area)
