I have experienced all sort of reactions when someone asks me if I believe and I tell them no. Sometimes the Christians are okay with it. Most of the time they think I am crazy. What do you think? Am I a nutcase to be an Atheist, and if possible please include an explanation why.

I do not get upset when people profess to being atheist. I am a Christian and have seensome scary things done in the name of religion , so I suppose I can understand why someone might be leery of aligning themselves with any particular religion. I would also have to say though, that if you choose to walk on your own personal journey with God , using your own knowledge of the bible and not allowing someone who "thinks" they have all the answers give you possibly misguided, or worse, out right lies, to lead you in their walk. Many pastors, preachers, and preists are so holier than thou and then when you sit and read the scripture they have just taught, you find a whole different meaning. Many only read one part of the story and I guess think they can make up the ending to suit their agendas. So no, you are not a nutcase, but perhaps you should try reading a bible for yourself to see if maybe you missed something somewhere. Good luck to you, whatever your journey may lead you to.

No, you are not a nut case. You just can't see anything bigger than yourself. I went many years wondering, questioning and being angry because many couldn't answer my questions. I am now christian, but I feel there are so many things that churches don't want us to know. I feel that catholics going to church every Sunday and dropping a dollar in the basket and then going to confession only to then go out to the bars and be ungodly all week until Sunday again is horrible, but it is a reality. In fact I know very few true Christians. What I mean by true is many try to look as if they are living one way and are really living another life in secret.
I almost gave up until I realized it was between GOD and me. Not what the ladies would say if I missed church one week or the pastor who drives a big Escalade. Me. I have had a miracle, so I can't not believe. I had a major tumor that was very fast growing and they thought for sure cancer after my MRI. I went to church that Sunday and got prayed over, then went back to the doctor on a Monday for my pre surgery appointment and it had disappeared. It was there Thursday on an ultrasound and then an MRI.
You tell me. Isn't there something bigger than me at work in my life making sure I was still here for my 3 daughters?
Think about it.

I don't believe anyone who is honest can say they are an Atheist. If you are honest you cannot say that you know everything about this world and the entire universe. In order to be a true athiest you would have to have all the knowledge in the universe to say that there is no God. Since you do not have complete knowledge it is always possible that there is information somewhere that there is a God. So in reality you don't really know if there is a God or not and because you don't have all knowledge you cannot be sure there isn't a God. Also I think if you look at the universe honestly you cannot statistically say that this universe happened by chance.

Jesus sent us out to disciple all nations, so it is appropriate and in accordance with Scripture for Christians to share their faith and the reason for the hope inside. Christians are to act in love and gentleness. Do we? No, most of us are far from it at times. I am saddened when I learn that someone I like is an atheist. Eternity is real and there are no second chances. I know that regardless of what the atheist believes now, there will come a time as Jesus said, that every knee will bow to Him. In that day, the non-believers will not be invited to experience the joy of heaven for all eternity.

As for whether you're a nutcase for not believing... I wouldn't say that, but it does take A LOT more faith to believe all of this (the human eye, egg, sperm, dna, etc.) is the result of chaos rather than an intelligent designer. Back in the day of Darwin the complexity wasn't realized and it was much easier to hide the inconsistencies in the fossil record.

If you're serious, read "The Case for Christ" and/or "The Case for a Creator" both by Lee Strobel. They aren't easy reads, but greatly educational. A confirmed atheist, he set out writing the first one to prove his wife was a nutcase for believing in the Christ and following Christianity. Also, try the resources at www.equip.org and www.AnswersInGenesis.org just to research it and affirm why you truly believe you are correct in your world view. Be able to argue your points intelligently and know the "other side" as well as you know your own in order to do it well. Good luck and God bless you. ~Nisa

Being an atheist is a clear demonstration of rational thinking about the nature of reality. Believers live in a delusional fantasy world and become very afraid when faced with reality.

Everything is kool :o)

We all have to follow our own lights through life. It's enough, I think, to just accept that and respect the choices other people make for themselves.

I reckon most sensible Christians will respect your way of doing things if you respect what they choose to believe in. And those who don't simply aren't worth getting angst about.

if you really has the wisdom, you'll understand and won't ask these kind of questions anymore. you won't feel any negative thoughts when you know the truth. nothing else matters.
i don't care what they said, what they think, they have their right to speak from their perspective of what is right or wrong. I don't care, because i know the truth. i'm walking in the path of truth.
