Should we all be security cleared and wear a small badge to indicate the fact? I can't imagine anyone would wear one who hasn't been cleared-That wouldn't be cricket.

security cleared for what? Do you mean everyone cleared to come to the US.. or just within the US.. I don't understand the question.

Isn't that a little like Mcarthyism or Scarlett Letter or even the bands that the Nazis made the Jews wear. I just don't think this is a good idea. I sure wouldn't be happier wearing a small badge to declare that someone looked into my background, and I'm OK in their opinion.

I shall be honest with you, the only security which will make you feel happier and safe is by putting your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Once you receive Him into your life and the more you read the Word of God, the happier you will become and the Holy Spirit will guide you into a secure and safe life with the living Christ.

You do come across, people, organisations, cults etc. who are specialists at making black look white and truth look false. Nazis and Communists were cruel and satanically clever. We often underestimate the enormity of cunning, satanically inspired people.

You see, you can't "Brainwash" a born-again-Christian, because brain washing means to change a persons mind completely and permanently, and make his mind over to be totally dedicated to another, and different way of thinking. Therefore the tactic is to break a persons will., which can include starvation, sleeplessness, brutality, unrelenting beatings, torture with all the fury to "break a mans will".

I am just sharing this with you because, we all need Christ and looking at the world today, the Bible tells you that this has all been prophesied by Jesus and the Prophets. So, if you want to be 100% happy forever and safe and secure always, then the answer is in Christ and His free gift of Eternal Life in Heaven.

When I am talking to someone about God, I avoid telling them what he or she should or should not do in there life. These decisions are better left to the Holy Spirit. It is my job to bring people to Christ Jesus, not to a particular doctrine.

"When the Spirit of Truth comes, He will guide you into all the Truth" John 16 verse 13.

so i just need to wait for my security clearance to go through, and to get my badge before i do anything than right? my point being, how is a security check going to catch someone who hasn't done anything YET?
and then also you run into the problem of all these "good citizens" running around and beating on people who don't have badges, gee their paper work might not have through yet right? after all i got my badge, so this person without one must be bad....
but you seem to already have realized some flaws in this little nice plan and of course the list of potential problems is much longer.

In the US you're talking about over 250,000,000 people. In the UK 60,000,000. The logistics and time taken would not be worth the costs once the small badge had been forged by enterprising terrorists / malcontents. Nice idea though.

By the way, I wouldn't wear one! I don't need a badge to tell me I'm sane and law abiding. The tattoo the asylum stamped on my head the day they let me go does that.

Questions like this all revolve around who decides who should be cleared or not. Hitler came up with a similar idea - the yellow star for Jews. Personally I think the less state interference and meddling in our lives the better. I don't trust Tony Blair or the people he represents to manage the country or it's foreign policy - I certainly don't trust them to decide whether people are 'good' citizens or not. Who's to say someone far worse than Blair isn't going to come along in the future and manage the system?

Secondly it would be ordinary people who suffered from mistakes (not to mention costs) and people who wanted to subvert the system would find it easier to get away with their crimes. So - NO TO ID CARDS/BADGES AND NO TO STATE INTERFERENCE!

I would go further.
Anyone who didn't get the security clearance should have boiling oil poured up their nostrils.
Anyone who fraudulently wore a badge declaring they had been cleared should be slowly skinned with a rusty nail.
These punishments should be shown on TV and repeats should be displayed at Heathrow Airport, at arrivals, to warn any foreigners to behave themselves or else.
Then the rest of us could feel smug, safe and happy.

Why a badge? Why not have a chip implanted under the skin of any legal, security cleared American? And then we can set up roadblocks, wand people for their chip and execute anyone without a chip!

Maybe a few people would feel happier walking around the streets like that. But I think a lot of people would feel pretty sad. Pretty freaked out that things had got so Orwellian. I wouldn't want to have to live like that.
