Excess sebum on the scalp is the primary cause of oily hair. Care for oily hair targets the accumulation of oil and dandruff on the scalp and minimizes it, preventing the hair from becoming limp and greasy.
Care for oily hair is similar to dry hair: massage the scalp during shampooing to exfoliate, then work the shampoo through from root to tip to cleanse properly. Use shampoos for oily hair, containing amino acids and natural cleansing agents such as lemon juice. Try washing hair every other day or twice a week rather than daily to see if it reduces oiliness. (For fine hair that is oily, washing on a daily basis is recommended.)
When conditioning, use one that is specifically for oily hair and only apply to the ends of the hair, rather than the scalp and roots. Conditioners add moisture to the hair, but since sebum (oil produced by the scalp and skin) is a natural moisturizer, its usage can even be eliminated. Oily Hair

Modifying dietary habits will also help. Eating excessive amounts of greasy food will contribute to oily hair; increase fresh vegetables and fruit in your diet and drink plenty of water daily.
Chemically treating the hair can also contribute to oily hair. If possible, avoid subjecting your hair to such treatment and just use gentle styling products instead.
Lastly, touching your scalp and fingering your hair will make your hair oilier. Stop playing with your hair!

If it helps, I am 51 and still have oily hair. I wash it daily and was given the advice to use a really inexpensive shampoo. The one I use now is Tesco's 2 in 1 - and it really seems to have done the job. This could be because I am older and the oil is finally clearing up! It is worth a try, though. In between times I even tried Redkens shampoo and conditioner - about £45 for the two bottles! I'd rather stick with the cheepy!
Honest, try your local supermarket's 'value' brand of shampoo and conditioner. Wash on a daily basis - and give it a chance. If you have been using a strong shampoo it will take a while or so for your scalp to get used to it.

Greasy hair is a common problem, don't worry. You should definetely wash your hair frequently, but you don't have to wash it every day, because it can be easily dried out in that way or even cause dandruff (and greasy hair with dandruff is the worst thing that can happen :-) ) You should try some shampoos for frequent use, especially made for greasy hair. They usually contain herbs and they are not scented. You can go to pharmacy and ask for some medical shampoos or try Pantene Pro-V, for greasy hair, which will definetely solve the problem (I've been using it, it's really great.)

Gently washing your hair with a very mild shampoo will help. The shampoos for greasy hair often cause the condition to worsen.Dont rub hard when washing as this stimulates the scalp and produces more sebum (grease).
Wash your hair (as often as you need to ) with a mild shampoo. Wash it once, rinse and wash again, then use a little bit of conditioner and rinse out straight away.
Highlights can help with greasy hair, but you then end up with greasy scalp and dry ends, so its not always a good solution.
Also, wash your brush, comb etc regularly to stop brushing back int he grease each time you use it.
I think I may have a book about this on my site, have a look.

Shampoo-Conditioner with Egg
This conditioner froths as warm water is run through it, so you do not need a separate shampoo. For dry hair, use 1 egg and 2 egg yolks. For very greasy hair, use 2 egg whites and 1 tbsp olive oil.
2 eggs
4 tbsp warm rosemary infusion
2 tbsp olive oil
Place all ingredients in a bowl and beat with an electric beater until the mixture is fluffy. Massage the conditioner into your scalp and hair. Wrap your hair in a hot towel and leave for 30 minutes. Wash the mixture out by running warm water through your hair. Use an herbal rinse or add 2 tbsp cider vinegar to the rinsing water.
You could also try washing it more often, like every day, watching what you eat, etc. Also, pure aloe vera gel added to your shampoo is supposed to work too. Hope this helps!

Yep, I have a greasy scalp too. I also had to offer up Pantene after making use of it for 18 years because the hot formula merely suck. i take advantage of Kenra volumizing shampoo now and that's fan-flippin'-tastic! besides, once you've quite greasy hair, lower priced shampoo is totally tremendous. If it really is what you may have the funds for, then use it through all potential. Clarifying shampoos are more beneficial shampoo formula with none conditioning factors in them. They wash away each and every of the airborne dirt and dust, oil, buildup, styling products, etc. out of your hair & scalp. it really is maximum proper to apply them once per week (or each and every 2 weeks in case you colour like I do). you could also attempt doing a vinegar rinse. Take a 16 oz.. water bottle and fill it to the final analysis with both distilled white vinegar or apple cider vinegar. Fill something of the bottle with water and shake to blend. Pour this answer over your hair after shampooing, then rinse until eventually the fragrance is lengthy gone. This works nicely for dandruff too.

Wash your hair with a good shampoo and wash it daily.
When you rinse make sure you get all the shampoo out.
Take a litre jug of luke warm water and add about a table spoon lemon juice (must be pure lemon juice) and rinse your hair with that.
It will not only help with the greasy hair it will also give your hair a shine.

If you wash your hair too often it encourages the production of grease so try to keep it to every other day. There are some shampoos that claim to work but I don't know if they do.
Otherwise a quick fix for greasy hair: if you have a fringe/bangs wash them, it'll instantly make your hair look better if you've not got time to wash it and style it.

get rid of greasy hair by using greasy scalp shampoo. this will help not moisturising your hair. also use less moisturising shampoos, i know because its happened to me.
try not using hair creams because thats a regular culprit as is not washing your hair. wash your hair regulary and you will see the very obvious difference. use my advice and tell me how it went.
