You usually don't retain the information that you crammed in. In my experience you study so hard, and so much that (in most cases) you remember enough information to pass the test/exam and then you forget it right after. Cramming is pretty much overloading your brain with a vast amount of information. It's much better to study over a longer period of time.
The moral of the story is: Do you work as assigned, then you won't have to cram @ crunch time

It's a very bad habit to get into... usually cramming will only register information into short term memory. The best way to study is by taking good notes, rewriting the notes (maybe more than once) and discussing or actually teaching terms to others. When going over notes... students should not study for more than 20 minutes without taking a break.

If you don't take tht time to slowly study and absorb the material, all cramming does is to clutter your mind with bits and pieces of what you need to make a good grade on a test. I personally find that cramming is no good whatsoever. If you want a good grade, you have to take your time and understand the material well.
