Do you mean St. Vitus dance? If it is then it is also called Sydenham's chorea or chorea minor. It is a delayed manifestation of rheumatic fever and is a disorder of the central nervous system characterized by sudden, aimless, irregular movements often accompanied by muscle weakness and emotional instability. Though delayed, sometimes it is the most prominent symptom that could point to the possiblity of rheumatic fever.
The onset is gradual and the patient may develop some degree of difficulty in writing, drawing and handiworks. They may fall and stumble, drop things and grimace. It is only in severe cases where even speech, walking and the ability to sit up are affected and become difficult. It can be stimulated and exaggerated by excitement, effort or fatigue but is absent during sleep. Sedatives suppresses choreiform activity.

St. Vitas` dance is otherwise called Sydenham`s chorea. This like Rheumatic fever occurs in children after an attack of Streptococcal sore throat. Chorea is incoordinated purposeless movements. It is self limiting but the accompanying cardiac involvement can leave a permanent valvular disease.

I have not heard that term in over sixty years. It means a choreiform movement like cerebral palsy.
