Vegetable au gratin it's a whole meal, it's not supposed to be eaten with bread either chapatis...

Bread or chapatti are not normally eaten with any baked dishes.

You can eat whatever you want to with whatever dish you choose. It's your taste

conventionally...they dont go with each other(atleast, not chapati)...but if it suits ur palate....y not?.. go ahead n eat it like that....
