I've read a lot of comments from devout christians claiming that Jesus will return soon and there have been several events during the course of history that correspond to warnings and prophesies in the Bible. What exactly were these said events and how exactly are they linked to the "end of the world"?

I seem to be getting a lot of negative answers here. The question is not difficult. What are these events and how do they relate to what is written?

By the way, I have read Revelations. If I fully understood it I wouldn't be asking this question.

It's a sad fact that most Christians don't study the Bible and they don't receive sound preaching either.

All those people in the past who have claimed that world events correspond to warnings that the Messiah will return have been mistaken. And that is because.... the Bible doesn't tell us of any such events!! Matthew 24 is all about the destruction of Jerusalem in 70AD. After this, the only even specifically prophesied event in the Bible is the return of Christ, and guess what? It gives NO DETAILS about how this will occurr whatsoever! It is theoretically possible that the account in Matthew 24 may have a dual meaning, but please understand that much of this text was written in symbolic Apocryphal language, so terms like the "sun will be darkened and the stars fall to heaven" is NOT to be taken literally, nor is "..the son of man comes with the clouds.." These passages are symbolic.

Therefore the Bible does not contain any events by which we can know that the "end of the world" is due to take place.

Just one more thing. The so-called "end of the world" means simply the end of the evil world order which currently exists where Satan is the "god of this world". God does not threaten people or scare people or want them to live in fear. This is what Satan does, and at present he is allowed by God to rule the world, although God does prevent him from destroying us totally. Try reading the book of Job, the first chapter gives a good insight into this.

I don't fully understand the political stuff but it's got something to do with the nation of Israel. We are seeing many Jews give their lives to Christ now. Also there has been a promise (from God) of a world wide revival ( a big move towards Christianity) which has already started. Before Jesus returns, good will get better and evil will get worse and we will all have to decide which side we are on. I'm with Jesus because He showed me He is real and true, not because I was told about Him (I wasn't particularly.) I know many people are living in expectation of Christ's return, and I also believe it will be soon.

Excellent question. If you believe the Word of God, you will know that what was prophesized in the Bible has all come true,,,so far. There are no time tables listed for us as to the end of the world, but events listed that will happen before Jesus returns again. Even Jesus told us He would be back. The events you ask about are wars in nations (Africa?), nations against nations,(middle east?) floods, earthquakes (tsunami?), one common money among nations (Euro dollar?). It's all there and those events are happening....time of His return? Who knows. There are still more prophesies to come.

Throughout history there have been delusional people who believe the world is about to end or that Jesus is returning soon. Every single theory or date has come and gone. People rest assured that as Christianity and Islam are merely cults invented by frightened people in the middle and dark ages. The world may end due to meteorite collision or global warming or any kind of disaster. But Jesus will have absolutely sod all to do with it.

While on earth Jesus was asked what will be the sign of your coming?
He gave the parable of the fig tree.Mathew 24:32-44.
From here we can get an idea how close it may be.
The parable involved the fig tree which was sprouting its first leaves .
He said "that in Israel a fig tree sprouting its first leaves is an indication of the coming summer.
Certain signs on the earth and in the skies would signal the arrival of God's judgement upon the generation that saw the signs begin to appear.
He said no one would know the day or the hour of His coming but we would know which generation would see it.

revelation tells you all about this and from reading this i believe that the church will be taken from the earth, then there will be a time of trouble called the great tribulation then Christ will return. but read revelation and decide for yourself. (in case you don't know revelation is the last book of the bible) as for signs god is returning the Jews to the promised land something he promised in several places of the bible to do towards the end of the world.

Jesus says that there will be signs... in the air, water, etc. But check out the book of Revelation. This has probably the most on end times. But also the book of Daniel, and also Zechariah. Jesus says directly in the gospels, like Matthew. Send me an E mail and I will send you some scriptures.

Well the best one is the parable of the Fig Tree.
Learn It.
Matt 24
32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree ; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

Israel became a Nation in 1948
Year of the baby boomers
before that generation passes, all things will be fulfilled!

Islam considers Jesus as one of God's great prophets. His mission was to preach the Oneness of God and to lead man to his Lord. He never claimed to be other than a servant and a Messenger of God. The Qur'anic account of his life and mission is supported by overwhelming evidence. The Muslims do believe in and are awaiting the Second Coming of Jesus. He will come back not as God to judge the non-Christians, but as Jesus, God's servant. His coming is to correct the misconception which people have developed about his personality and his mission.he will stay for forty years which is going to be the happiest years of life on this earth. At that time everybody will believe in him as the messenger, not the Son of God. However, what about those who will not be able to live till his second coming? They better do it now

Yes, Jesus will return some day. We do not know the day or hour. Some of the signs that you are referring to are called the "Signs of judgment" which we have been seeing for the past couple of years. Things such as the moon being blood red, disease that can not be cured on a high rise, man caught up in himself, same sex marriages, war......i can go on and on.
