8 WEEKS IS FAR TO OLD TO DOCK A TAIL THIS IS CRUEL UNLESS THERE IS A MEDICAL CONDITION

The tail dock should have been performed at 3-5 days old....Your puppy is too old now, but when you have him/her spayed or neutered, you can have the tail docked at the same time and only the risk and cost of one anesthesia.
Your pup's breeder should have had the tail docked. As another said, the tail dock is only done for aesthetic reasons and does not have to be done at all.

Please reconsider your desire to have your puppy's tail docked. Although it is legal in the United States, it is unnecessary, and even cruel. There is no real reason to have tails docked anymore if the dog is just a pet.

It is now a tail amputation. Many vets will not do that at this age. You would have to call around and see if any will.
