Yes, vets have prescribed it for my dogs several times.

There's no problem with dogs taking amoxicillin, but the weight of the dog and the type of infection is important in figuring out if amoxicillin is appropriate for them. Sometimes just calling the vet and telling him/her what kind of infection and weight they can give you a direct answer.

yes, a dog can take Amoxicillin if he have cough. a dog can take human medicine but not all. like, robitussin.

of course, it's a common anti-biotic, it should be prescribed by a vet though, he knowsthe right amount to give your dog, DON'T administer it to the dog yourself, very dangerous, call the vet.
