I would assume the answer is you're ex's best friend...
if you date you're best friends ex...you'll lose your best friend....
but, if you date your ex's bestfriend.....do you care if you lose your ex?

For you it is better to date your ex's bestfriend unless you want to get a new bestfriend. Your ex is your ex and she is out of the picture for whatever reason you broke up with her(him).

Both would probably cause trouble but ex's best friend would be better, depending on the previous relationship with the ex,
eg - if it went on for a long time = not the best idea
short fling = doesn't really matter

Neither but if I had to choose, my ex' best friend since I would care less about my ex' feelings than my best friend's. Bad thing is that if you ex is bad mouthing you to his friend then it will turn him against you.
