News reports have shown peaceful, law abiding muslims that have been brainwashed into committing attrocities. Therefore I am suspicious of all of them.My instinct tells me to be.I wouldn't admit this in public because of fear of being politically incorrect or worse.Would you trust all Rotweiller dogs even though you knew some of them would kill you?Anybody agree?

I know this isn't a discussion form but I am well aware of the muslim teachings but my human instinct tells me to be fearful because I have no way of distinguishing a good muslim from a bad one until it's too late and the attrocity has been committed

I think that your dilemma arises from generalizations. I am a Muslim and I also fear some ignorant brainwashed Muslims but I also fear cruel Americans and plans of Bush, I fear radical Jewish ppl and i fear satanists and some atheists. This is normal bcs making generalizaitons regarding religions is obviously wrong. Would you be a racist if you would ask: ''I am suspicious of blonde women bcs new reports have shown that blonde women cheat more''? Could I make my point clear? Just take some time and read some parts from Kuran. www.kurandaara.com you can find the english translation here and you can search for words such as ''war, kill, Christian'' so you can see the view of Islam. I think that being afraid or suspicious of ignorant and brainwashed radicals is not racism but you have to be aware of the fact that it is the case with ALL ignorant ppl not just Muslims, so of course your view makes you a racist if you really label all Muslims as potential criminals (including me who is against all kind of terror or war or suffering in the world and really wants peace and understanding between all ppl from all religons). And pls just look at the world and you will see that the America (which is a Christian country) is the biggest and most cruel terrorist in the world and is the greatest danger for all living creatures in the earth. So be afraid of Bush and his followers if you are gonna fear something (and as you see, even in a situation, where American has become the nightmare of the world, i do not say 'Fear Americans' - that would make me a racist)

Racism law reflects the knowledge that many people do not like other races and that nothing can be done about it. It is only wrong if you show bias towards someone for a racial reason.

Islam, the Muslim faith as some describe it is not so much a faith as a way of life totally dedicated to the worship of God. It's basis is the five pillars.

Profession of faith (Shahada)
Praying regularly
Fasting during Ramadan
Being charitable
Performing the hajj

The terrorists are a few very gullible and totally misguided souls manipulated by a handful of fanatics. The vast majority of Muslims are peace loving and horrified at what the terrorist are doing, supposedly in the name of the prophet.

Christians have a far longer pedigree for killing. Are you afraid of them too?

In allowing yourself to be persuaded to miss trust and fear the Muslims you are playing into the hands of the terrorists and doing part of their job for them.

Absolutely not!

It is perfectly understandable to feel the way you do. Look at things this way. Every time you leave your home you are at risk of being attacked/murdered by someone. The fact fact that the media is focusing the issue on Islam doesn't make a difference to me. My best friend is Muslim and I trust her enough to know that she would never put me in danger for the sake of her religion.

I went to college with a lot of Muslims and there are a lot of Muslims where I work. In theory, the local government building where I work, the huge Muslim population in the town it is based in (Birmingham) and that fact that I know so many within the community puts me more at risk than most. If I constantly worried about terrorists trying to blow me up I would never leave the house.

Don't let these barbarians get to you. They are just a minority who will use your fear as proof that the world hates Islam.

I'm a Muslim and I do think you sound slightly racist. But that's just my view. However, I think your media also played a big role in painting all Muslims as bad people and extremists. The majority of Muslims I know (family and friends) are peaceful, loving, funny, open-minded people who don't discriminate against others.

And you claim "some of them would kill you"- but some Christians or Jews or Atheists would also kill you, no? I come from a country that was bombed several times by the American military- does that mean I should fear all Americans?

No one is telling you to trust ALL Muslims, just as you wouldn't trust ALL or any people in general. Just don't discriminate against them simply because your media focuses on the worst of them. Fear extremism and fanatacism which comes in many shapes and forms, including Christianity and xenophobia.

No you are just believing the media nonsense that is being said about them.

They are no more or less brainwashed than you are. Both sides of this stupidity are being told to fear and hate the other.

Fear and hate are always stupid responses to any situation. These stupid responses do serve the goals of the war/hate mongers on both sides who are stirring up this distrust that you and the Muslims are feeling toward each other, but they do not serve your interests in any way.

If you are a christian you should understand that Jesus left us with an antidote for this type of nonsense. He left specific instructions for us telling us how to extract ourselves from this kinds of misperceptions about others.

His directions simply put tell us to completely suspend judgment in these situations. He asks that we Judge not lest we be judged, that we turn the other cheek and that we love our neighbors. Muslims are our neighbors. No further thought or discussion is needed on this subject. Unless of course you want to do you part to continue this cycle of judgment and hateful violence that is being created to enrich war mongers and arms merchants at the expense of innocent people throughout the world.

Love and blessings

I have the same ill feeling like you. But I want to validate that feeling/instinct by asking our Muslim brothers series of question just to clean the air of mistrust, misconception and propaganda's. Rather than kill myself with fear, paranoia and anger I choose to ask our Muslim brothers controversial issues in which they have answered politely. The truth is I am beginning to get some light from their view. Right now, they are still answering some of my questions. You know what, its healthy and constructive to have an open communication with them rather than accused them of many things out of fear and ignorance. If you're a christian, then love them for being your enemy and you'll see for yourself if they are truly your enemy.

I'm sorry you feel as such. Really I do (no offense intended). No one should be afraid of others just because of something that involved them.

And no, I am not afraid of Rottweillers because I trust that the owners will care for others' safety. Be wary yes, but to extract yourself from Muslims are a little too extreme.

Have some faith in them. I'm sure they'll appreciate it.

No, you are not being racist. You are just being a human reacting to some situations c",)

Ya' know dude, maybe you need to get to know a few Muslims. Like like saying the black man down the street shot his wife, now I'm afraid of ALL black people. Your the guy next door, who is a Later Day Saint, doesn't believe the same thing I do, now I'm afraid he's trying to brainwash me or something. Get over it.

You do not need to be afraid. Fear is False Evidence Appearing Real. Only few fundamentalists create that kind of attitude.
Political correctness is restriction of your liberty. Political commissars were in Communist Russia, I hope I will never see any of them here.

I don't think you're racist necessarily you probably just don't know enough muslims...we fear what we don't understand and all that. I'd say read the Q'uran (sp) the more informed you are the less you'll have to fear.
