For those of you who do, do you really get anything positive out of it? Why not just call it internet friending? Not trying to make anybody mad I'm just curious it seems.....counterinstinctual.

similar to meeting anybody anywhere ...u don't know anybody the first time you meet them anyway ...online or not ...and the internet somehow lets you decide whether you want to meet the guy/gal or not ...just block them if u don't want to meet up ... where as in real life sometimes u have to be polite when u don't want to be... as for the liars, punks etc etc... bet there are plenty in we know in real life already... Its good to be careful tho...but its upto you to be able to distinguish between a fake and a genuine person ...on or offline...

I don't think it is helpful at all, it makes those with low self esteem and weak confidence happy for a minute and since they are behind a computer, they could lie and impersonate stronger figures they wish to be.
But as a matter of fact it leaves them there, low, shallow and weak.
You want to know someone, meet them.

It may work for some but others not.
You know... people's love life have different start and different endings.
You'll never know how you will find yours; internet dating is another story.

i met my bf through the internet.. we met each other for like 3 times and about 13 days. i like the experience. although we live far from each other, but we're near at heart. we're thinking about marriage in a few more years.. i can't wait!! =)

i personally dont do it....
but if i have to think about it...its a way of knowing someone before u meet him/her......this person might be all the way around the world......
its kind of ..a step one that is followed by real dating....
dangerous though......people can easly lie online....
i wouldnt do it....
but for many .. it does...... i know a couple that met online..dated online for a while...met.....and then got married.....hapy for 2 years now...

Funny thing is. I did it for friendship, but most of them wanted more. So it's difficult to make real friends on there too.
