He never said a word in favor of education. He never even hinted at the existence of any science. He never uttered a word in favor of industry, economy or of any effort to better our condition in this world. He was the enemy of the successful, of the wealthy. Dives was sent to hell, not because he was bad, but because he was rich. Lazarus went to heaven, not because he was good, but because he was poor.
Christ cared nothing for painting, for sculpture, for music -- nothing for any art. He said nothing about the duties of nation to nation, of king to subject; nothing about the rights of man; nothing about intellectual liberty or the freedom of speech. He said nothing about the sacredness of home; not one word for the fireside; not a word in favor of marriage, in honor of maternity.
He never married. He wandered homeless from place to place with a few disciples. None of them seem to have been engaged in any useful business, and they seem to have lived on alms.
All human ties were held in contempt; this world was sacrificed for the next; all human effort was discouraged. God would support and protect.
At last, in the dusk of death, Christ, finding that he was mistaken, cried out: "My God My God! Why hast thou forsaken me?"
We have found that man must depend on himself. He must clear the land; he must build the home; he must plow and plant; he must invent; he must work with hand and brain; he must overcome the difficulties and obstructions; he must conquer and enslave the forces of nature to the end that they may do the work of the world.

if you go by this quote by Ingersoll you will be mistaken about quite a bit. if you want to know what Jesus said or did or the state He was in when he cried out you need to read it in context. Jesus was quoting Psalm 22 which is a prophesy of the Messiah. for example, Jesus was a carpenter, Luke was a physician, the disciples all had occupations. His statements about the wealthy were in reaction to the teachings of the day that stated the poor were in their state due to sin. the parable of "the unforgiving servant" Matthew 18:22 talks about how people should treat those below them or indebted to them. Matthew 19:4-6 talk about marriage and family. "the parable of the talents" Matthew 25:14-29 talks about both spiritual and financial investment.
Robert G. Ingersoll has his own agenda about how people are to act based on his own philosophical stance. remember he is stating a position not facts.

First thing first, the thief on the cross that accepted salvation was in his right mind so lets take a good look at facts okay, you are as good as dead like that thief, although you are not hanging on a cross like he was which might not be good for you, you are as good as dead, we live on a world where everyone dies, so how much does a person as good of dead really need anyway? The Way out of being dead first comes when YOU understand first things MUST come first, and if you are now walking as it were in your own grave which YOU ARE then how much education, money ect. do you really need, and is this where your mind should be at? Hay Jesus bought YOUR Way out of here, put THAT first, "For GOD "SO" Loved the world that whosoever [even the person YOU hate the most] if you will BE-LIVE in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life" IF you love me keep my commandments" hay try visiting a Seventh Day Adventist Church in your area, free bible lessons www.itiswritten.com God bless and talk to me via email wgr88@yahoo.com God bless

taxes been used to go to war, instead of building or upgrading country's..?
i'm prolly sure i can make a list at least a 1000 times longer..
so,i think its easy to say, that the viewpoint of jesus, was not a good one..,but can you ( we) really..,did we ever tried it..?

IF IT WASN'T FOR THE LORD THERE WOULD BE NO, YOU, YOURSELF, AND YOU.
WITHOUT HIM YOU WOULD BE NOTHING...HE GIVES YOU POWER TO GET WEALTH AND HIS DESIRE FOR US WAS TO PROSPER AND BE IN GOOD HEALTH. HE'S EVERYTHING YOU'LL NEVER BE. HE IS THE HEALER, THE ATTORNEY, THE SCIENTIST, THE ONLY GOD.
READ YOUR BIBLE AND WATCH YOUR TONGUE. TAKE YOUR PHOTO AWAY...WITH SUCH IGNORANT REMARKS IF I WERE YOU I WOULDN'T WANT ANYONE TO SEE MY FACE....EVEN ATHIEST HAVE MORE WISDOM AND THEY DON'T BELIEVE AT ALL.
KEEP IN MIND, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE ONLY ONE GOD...YOU WILL NEVER DO ANYTHING IN YOUR OWN STRENGTH AND IT WILL NEVER BE ABOUT YOU...YOU'RE NOTHING WITHOUT HIM...BE THANKFUL YOU'RE ALIVE. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE LORD, JEHOVAH AND ALWAYS WILL BE SO YOU CAN JUST COME DOWN OFF OF YOUR PEDESTAL.
I DON'T KNOW IF YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE BEING CUTE OR SMART IN YOUR REMARKS BUT HAVING WISDOM AND READING YOUR REMARKS READS
"S T U P I D" AND IT'S REALLY SAD.
AS CHRISTIANS WE'LL PRAY FOR YOU.
ASK THE LORD TO COME INTO YOUR LIFE AS YOUR PERSONAL SAVIOUR AND LORD AND TO GUIDE YOU THROUGH THIS LIFE EVERLASTING. PRAY FOR WISDOM AND READ PROVERDS. THAT'S WHERE HE TEACHES YOU NOT TO BE STUPID AND ACTING CRAZY ETC.
HE'LL EVEN HAVE YOU READ THE PASSAGES IN PROVERBS WHERE YOU'LL GAIN WISDOM AND YOU'LL SEE YOUR OWN STUPIDITY AND THEN YOU'RE GOING TO BE MAD AT YOURSELF FOR PUTTING THIS REMARK ON THE INTERNET.....YOUR REMARK IS PAST STUPID. IT SHOWS THAT YOU DON'T KNOW (IN 2006)
N O T H I N G ABOUT THE LORD AT ALL. MAY HE BLESS YOU ANYWAY...HE WILL IF YOU ASK HIM..AND BELIEVE ME YOU WILL...TO HIM .EVERY KNEE
W I L L BOW, THAT'S A PROMISE..

Did Christ tells you that those things you have mentioned are not permissible to do now? Just because Christ has a higher calling to save the very people who thinks exactly like you, cynical just because he offers a view that is not comfortable to your existence. Rest assured Jesus has died still for you & the rest humanity the question is that would you accept his salvation yes or not...sans all this mumbo jumbo...

WRONG !
Christ was teaching from the 22nd Psalm when He was on the cross. If you are going to bait Christians, you've got a lot of heavy reading to do my friend !

I doubt seriously that every word ever uttered by Jesus is written in the Bible.
Jesus "never spoke" about kiddie porn, either. What am I supposed to interpolate from His "silence" on that issue?
