Nowhere in The Koran does it say anything about 72 virgins, so that is an addition by the clergy.
What the whole idea shows is that Islamic men are infantile and delusionary--not to mention cruel, self-absorbed, pedophiliac, and childish. Real men would not want virgins. And using that as an excuse for blowing yourself up (by the way, what do the muslim women terrorists get?) is sick.
I suppose, however, that political leaders use any means whatsever to motivate their blind followers (this is as true in the US as in Arabia). Which is sicker--motivating people by granting them 72 virgins, or motivating people by telling them that they will get raptured into heaven by supporting US-Israeli genocide?
