The effects of anger on health have more to do with duration than frequency and intensity. The normal experience of overt anger lasts only a few minutes. But the subtle forms of anger, such as resentment, impatience, irritability, grouchiness, etc., can go on for hours and days at a time. Consistent, prolonged levels of anger give a person a five times greater chance of dying before age 50. Anger elevates blood pressure, increases threat of stroke, heart disease, cancer, depression, anxiety disorders, and, in general, depresses the immune system (angry people have lots of little aches and pains or get a lot of colds and bouts of flu or headaches or upset stomachs). To make matters worse, angry people tend to seek relief from the ill-moods caused by anger through other health-endangering habits, such as smoking and drinking, or through compulsive behavior such as workaholism and perfectionism. Laboratory experiments have shown that even subtle forms of anger impair problem-solving abilities and general performance competence. In addition to increasing error rates, anger narrows and makes rigid mental focus, tending to obscure alternative perspectives. The angry person has one "right way" of doing things, which, if selected in anger, is seldom the best way. There is nothing you can do angry (resentful, irritable, grouchy, impatient, chilly) that you can’t do better not angry.
Because it acts on the entire central nervous system as an amphetamine, anger always produces a physiological "crash," often experienced as depression when the issues causing the anger remain unresolved. Think about it. The last time you got really angry, you got really depressed afterwards. The angrier you get, the more depressed you get. And that is merely the physiological response, even if you keep from doing something while angry that youre ashamed of, like hurting the feelings of someone you love.

Anger can cause your blood pressure to rise. May even cause you to need a helper. Helper is something you need like to smoke, eat more or even drink. I know been there . Try taking some anger management classes. Or find something that relaxes you. Just because anger is an issue, does not mean it has to control you. If blowing off steam is the only way to relieve your anger then go for a walk or even exercise. Anger and stress go hand and hand usually. A bad combination to have at such a young age. You wont die from it , it can cause problems in relationships. Try to get control while there is time .

No it won't kill you, but you should talk it all out with someone you trust. Maybe Mum or Dad , an uncle or aunt
if you don't have a friend or older person to do this with, then look up the samiratans. If you are in the UK you could go and see your Dr and they might be able to refer you to a counsellor or something.
You can alos channel your agression into positives. Use it rather than let it use you. Take up a sport, cycle, run, play tennis..do anything that lets you burn your energy.
Above all, remember you are 14 with a whole life ahead of you. Adolescence can be hard work at times. Its totally normal to have a range of emotions and feel angry or stressed out too.
Try not to worry too much.
Good luck :)

Anger and stress help the body aquire other problems. Ulcers for one. Makes for easier infection because the body is already at operating limits. Get a good nights rest, stress less about things you cannot control and don't hang around people or do things that make you angry.
Live life to the fullest, you're not getting out of it alive anyways.

Yes, it can unfortunately. You know what they say right? Anger doesn't do any good...it can only eat you up inside so the best thing is to just let it go. It might not affect your health now, but if you continue to hold in your anger, it will probably shorten your life span. I suggest reading this book called "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff" by Richard Carlson. It will teach you how to cope with life's problems and how to let things go especially stuff that is out of your control. One thing I do when I get frustrated with life is to just say to myself, "Let it go. Let it flow." and just move on and forget about it because I won't let wasted emotions like anger rule my life. I hope this helps and that you feel better!

Yes it can, and you know that already. I'm 54, and have the problem as well, and I'm still working on it. I get so mad over the stupidest things, and I've lost a lot of friends in my life because of it. I hope you find a way to control it. You must have a bad childhood like I did, I think that's where it came from. Good luck and be good to those that earn your trust. Love Ron

its a build up of energy, everytime the energy level is way up,your body seems to find a way in anger or stress to relief it.
3 ways to deal with this..
1) find a way to relief the energy
knowing for yourself that it is that way,is half the solution for it..
if i would be you,i would search to find something to relax me deeply..,that can be alot of diffrent things,it only depends on what you like..,or better said, what relaxes you..
some go for a walk in the forrest, and some go dance a few ours..
some meditate,some do yoga..
it all come down to finding something that you like, that can relief you from tension...and the energy.
2) dont build up the energy, this is the difficult part, you should try to find out,why or for what reason you build up the energy.
if you find the source of it,then you can deal with it..,making sure that the massive energy doesnt come your way no more.
3) learn yourself to use that energy in a better way..
that will take some time,it can't be done overnight..,it all come down to the idea of,instead of bursting out in anger, use the same force or energy to for example hug someone..
and please dont be affraid or mad about yourself about it,learn to embrace it,embrace yourself..,you will end up understanding yourself better..
best wishes..

it's not very useful to say, "just keep your cool, and don't get angry"; in fact, it makes ME angry!
anger can, most definitely, adversely affect your health. it does mine! there are, however, a number of things you can do about it. sports, if you're into them, MAY help (they may also hurt, if you're overly competetive). yoga (it's not a contest!) is said to help, along with meditation, of which it is meant to be a form. tai chi is much the same (and prettier, in my opinion). at your age, it may be the hormonal changes that are going on in your body that materialise as excessive anger (or it may just be that being fourteen can suck). progressive relaxion may help. lemme look for a link... eh, just try here; it's a start (you may be angry at me for my sloth): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anger_management
bonne chance!
