It can be done, but should be done by a professional.

In order to get a much lighter color to adhere to your naturally dark hair, the stylist may have to strip your hair of its natural pigment before applying any dye.

I've done it many times... so yes, it can be done.
Gotta strip the hair first, then dye it - as many has already mentioned. If you don't strip it first, depending on your hair, it either won't change at all when you dye it or it will barely change and usually leave red and/or purple tones in your hair.

Also, don't forget the facial hair lightener to bring your brows down to a light brown or even blonde shade to match. Even just leaving it on for 2 minutes to make them brown will be fine, lots of natural blondes have brown eyebrows, so that wouldn't look too weird - but the jet black eyebrows will definitely look weird and stand out.

Yep... professionals are probably your best bet if you've never done any coloring at home before, but all the materials (the stripper, the hair dye and facial hair lightener) are available in home kits.

Good luck!

Your hair is nearly slightly white paper. The greater hues (dyes) you combine into it, the darker and messy the colour turns. in case you have been to shade a paper black and then attempt to place yellow over it, it would bring about an unattractive, nasty brown black. Black dye is the main powerful of all dyes, consequently you will desire a shade stripper. in case you like a distinctive mindset to stripping the colour of, you ought to use lemon juice and photograph voltaic to help the colour fade, or consistent with danger a clarifying shampoo. the only project with those concepts is that it is amazingly time eating. except you like your hair to be a delicate shade, decide for the colour stripper. sturdy success :D

Yeah but you need to double process your hair. Meaning use a hair stripper, then bleach. Otherwise your not gonna get it to work at all, or by chance you do your gonna end up a funky color far from blone. Any where from blue to bright orange. And you should be aware that double processing is going to seriously damage your hair. And you need to be prepared for root touch up every 2-3 weeks to avoid looking ridiculous and trashy. Your best bet is to go to a pro, to spare a bit of damage, and mistakes. But be prepared, this is going to be even more costly than if you were to go to a salon for a regular dye. You can do it at home, but its tough to do on virgin hair (unprocessed). Also you need to think about not liking being blonde. Once you go blonde, its going to be difficult for your hair to hold color agian. Meaning if you choose to go back to black it is going to fade quickly and often. And may not fully absorb the color. Meaning you could use black and end up darker blonde. AND it will absorb the color differently wear it has grown out. All things to think about before doing it. I would see if you can buy a wig to try for a day (even at home) to see ow blonde will look on you, and if you like it.

do you have any idea what that will do to your hair? first your natural color is stripped off, then more chemicals to make it blonde. You will have black roots and that looks so trashy, not to mention black eyebrows, you never want to put those chemicals near your eyes! If you absolutely must go to a Professional!!!

They bleach their hair and then dye it. To go blonde, you beach your hair.

It's possible but don't try it at home because it'll have to be "double processed" which will totally mess up your hair if you try it at home. But also think about it A LOT before you do it that drastic of a change there will be LOTS of up-keep. (roots, conditioning, etc)
