When I start windows xp, there is always the starting sound. How do I switch it off? Thanks.

SOUNDS AND AUDIO DEVICES
SOUNDS
In PROGRAM EVENTS scroll down to START WINDOWS
In Sounds select [NONE]
APPLY

Go to
Start > Control Panel > Sound and Audio Devices > Click the Sound Tab > Select the sound that says "Starting Windows".

You can change whether you'll want sound, change a sound, or remove the sound there.

I use w2k but it should be the same thing. I hope.
(1) goto start
(2) settings
(3) control panel
(4) click for sounds and multimedia
(5) scroll down. you should see the "start windows"
(6) delete it or maybe lower the sound.

Have you ever thought about not turning on your speakers until after windows has opened. Otherwise do as what is mentioned above.

Turn off your speakers. Make sure your PC is running in quiet mode.

You see,it depends...if there is no mute button in the monitor or in the screen......you can always trust in your keyboard...you see,either you can mute your computer or just even make it volume down...its a simple answer!
