You know what, let me tell ya something although almost EVERY Parent will say that they treat their children completely equal, I have never met a set that did! Whether the parents realize it or not, they always have a favorite.

I would hate to think so, but I'm sure there are some parents out there who give most of their attention to one child over the other. It's not fair and it hurts. If this is happening to you I'm sorry you are going through that. My parents love me and my 3 siblings equally. I don't know what its like to be or not to be a favorite, but I know it would hurt me greatly if my parents acted like they loved my siblings more than me.

Some do, and they are usually the ones who insist that they don't. It can get bad in single-parent families, if one did reminds the custodial parent of the absent parent and one doesn't. That happened in my family - I was like my dad, and he was gone, and my brother was just like my mother, so she favored him. She would even go so far as to say to me, "You're just like your father, he was [fill in whatever bad thing] and so are you." But yeah, she'd swear up and down that she didn't play favorites even though I was always the one getting the smackdown and he was spoiled rotten.
I have two kids of my own now and my stupid mother isn't allowed near them because she tried to do the same thing with them! She said one of them reminded her of my father, and she started treating that one like crap. Me, I love them both and I loved their father so much that if they remind me of him it's a good thing.
