I feed my dog with some boiled minced chicken, rice, a little garlic(to cause their blood to be disgusting for fleas), water, solid dog food, some chushed carrots, and 2 pinches of salt mixed together...

It sounds like you enjoy feeding your dog a well-balanced natural diet and I commend this. Cooking for your dog can create a wonderful bonding experience that both of you can enjoy (especially since he gets to eat it!).

If you like the idea of the natural diet, consider the type of dry dog food you're adding. Is it a premium brand dog food? Premium brands include Blue Buffalo, Nutro, Wellness, Eukenuba, Science Diet, ProPlan, Royal Canin, and a few others. Grocery brands--which are not considered premium--include Purina One, Puppy or Dog Chow (not good!), Ol'Roy (even worse), Iams, Beneful, Pedigree, and many many others. If you can find the food at your local grocery store, it is a grocery brand and not premium.

Out of all of the premium brands, only a few of them actually deserve to be considered "natural." If your dog food has different colors (red, green, yellow), it's not natural! Check the ingredients and see what type of byproducts and/or additives such as dyes are included.

As a trainer, I personally recommend (and feed my dog) Nutro. It is completely all natural with no artificial ingredients, no byproducts, additives, or dyes. The pieces of meat they use are the pieces you and I would eat: thighs, breasts, wings, drumsticks. No beaks, legs, or giblets included. There is also no corn! Corn is considered a "filler" in dog food, since it helps add bulk to the food (and your dog) but does not carry much nutrient-wise.

If your dog has specific food allergies, I suggest Blue Buffalo's Fish and Sweet Potato recipe. It's excellent and has added vitamins and nutrients.

The barf diet. (Biologically appropriate raw food)
and innova evo once in a while.
do not put salt into the dogs food as salt is not good for your dog, and if you look at the ingrediants on the bag of dog food it more than likely has salt in it.

If you want to feed your dog naturally.. check out the BARF Diet...This diet is comprised of many recipies to make sure that your dog is getting a WELL BALANCED diet. If I only ate chicken and romaine lettuce, as healthy as it is, I would not be getting complete balanced meals. What a WASTE of time *&* MONEY!!!You're doing it to make YOURSELF feel better,NOT the dog.

All those additions are USELESS &/or BAD for dogs!

Please,TRY to understand...FOOD DOES ***NOT*** equal love!!
Any decent brand of DRY *ADULT* feed is FINE!!!

my dog loves purina puppy chow, the one that has the big red balls in it. He eats the red ones first, then the green, then the rest. I guess the red and green taste best.
