The christian people has modified it according to their thoughts and needs. How can you believe in such book?

Basically, the bible is politically motivated. All the translations etc have been rearranged by the rulers of that time. Especially when you think about how many people (monks) have written it by candlelight over and over again.

It's totally changed because it's not in the original language.

However if you wanna know how much the actual meaning has changed, who knows? Probably an overwhelming majority, because you cannot translate anything exactly. Some words in other language has a certain significance that only exists in that language, or there may be no word to describe certain concepts in the language it is translated into. Not to mention cultural aspects...modern Christians don't really understand the culture of the people of the Bible. If they did they would completely different. Imagine if Christian women actually dressed like they always portray their beloved Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus...ankle-length robes, head covered, definitely no tank tops and miniskirts. They would not eat pork, and would follow all of the kosher guidelines. Also, as you said, people change it to suit their own needs.

Did you know that there is a word in Ancient Greek that means both "hand" and "wrist?" So when the Bible says that they put nails through Jesus' "hands," how do we know they don't actually mean "wrists?" Scientific research has also shown that if the nails went through the hands of a crucified individual, the weight of the body would have been too much to bear, and the hands will be torn.

Another thing I've noticed is that different Bibles say different things. I often get a completely different idea about the meaning in my head from reading the same verse in different Bibles! Do you know about Joseph's "coat of many colors?" Well, in some Bibles that I've read, it doesn't call it that. It calls it a "coat with sleeves" or a "coat with stripes." Look it up. How in the world do they mix these things up???

Also as far as the creation story is concerned, how do we know that the world was created in six days? The Qur'an says that it was created in six "yaum," which is an Arabic word that can mean either "day" or "a long period of time." The original Bible story uses the word "yom", which sounds almost exactly like the arabic word and can also mean an infinite period of time as well as a day. Translators decided to go with the word "day" because it sounds more natural in their language. Think about it. If the translators of the Bible were trying to get an exact meaning across, it would not have sounded so eloquent.

And I haven't even gotten into the fact that some of the Bible is actually just people writing their own opinion. If you look in the book of Sirach in a Catholic Bible, for instance, you will see that it says in chapter 42, verse 14: "Better is the wickedness of a man that a woman who does good, it is a woman who brings shame and disgrace." How unfair!

So I would like to ask Christians who claim to believe in every word of the Bible, how can you be certain that the book you claim to be so holy is actually the pure and unadulturated truth? If there is so much contradiction within this book and between different versions of supposedly the same book, how do you know what to believe?

God doesn't make mistakes. People do.

There are different translations, so of corse some meaning may have been lost along the way. But the Main principles have never changed.

God created the heavens and the earth.
Jesus is our Lord and savior
and tons more..

you can not claim that simply because the Bible has gone threw translations that it discounts what it says. The message is and always will be the same.

Also the King James version is considered as the most accurate translation there is, and has been cross checked with the oldest available original scripts of the bible.

Also would like to add that the girl who is saying that the Bible "totally changed" even though with her statements of having experience in these matter, is wrong.

Wether or not the original ment to be hands or wrists is not irrelavent but it doesnt change the message of Christ dying on the Cross for our sins

The coat of colors or a coat with sleeves again doesnt change the message of the story of joseph.

and as far as either God creating the earth in days or "a long period of time" again is important but it doesnt change what the bible teaches about God creating the Heavens, Earth and all that dwell on it.

Why is it that the comments that are not preaching for the Christian belief has a thumbs down..

And these people call themselves children of "God"

That is one reason I dont believe in "God" Most of the believers think their way is right and there is no other way to be.. If you are not with them they pray for you and think of you as a lost soul.. Very sad.. I think I should pray for them.. oops wait.. I dont have anyone to pray to..

Nobody nows the truth.. The bible is a book that was written it could be the same thing as Harry Potter or Lord of the rings.. Just a tale, and no more...

I dont think the overall is bad, because it does keep people out of trouble, but I do think that it creates alot of stuck up snobs.. Just because you choose to believe in something that nobody has any clue as to if it's really true or not does not make you a better person than the ones who dont..

I live my life straight, I work, I pay bills, Im into family and friends.. I am not anywhere near lost and I seriously doubt that I will be punished in the end because I choose not to join this cult!

I think most of the people who believe are hypocrites.. They tell you the bible says not to judge anyone but they judge everyone..

Overall it's really not a bad thing for people to believe.. I myself dont buy it, but it is their own choice.. Maybe one day they will see that it is my choice not to believe.

Here's a thought: Faith. Some use that to believe in the Koran, Buddism, etc. Why is the Bible the only one singled out? If you don't want to believe ANYTHING in it, then that is one of the choices you have with the Bible. You wouldn't find that generosity with the Koran, they would kill you for the question. And no, I am not kidding.
Atheism is an interesting choice, you get to believe in nothing except yourself. Which means that you will never be any better than you choose to be, and your only hope is in you. If you forgive yourself, cool, but if not, then you are your only judge. It never goes beyond you. I guess that kind of living would be interesting, except I know me, and I thank God that there is grace, even if I choose not to take it. It does not end or even begin with me. Well, maybe the choice does. I choose to believe the Bible, but smart people also know that much of it was specific to the culture at that time. That takes study and not a glance.

Every Christian knows that the Bible is close enough to it's original state, to accomplish it's purpose of identifying the Messiah, the true God and what we should be doing for them, in order to escape the judgment of unrepentant sinners, right?

Versions, of the same words are synonyms. True some have varied a few words, but he has protected correct translations to compare it to. If he can create you, he can guard a book.

How can you not believe in such a book?

Praise Jah!! You people!! and Hail earth's new King..Jesus!!

There are thousands ( over 5 thousand ) of comparable ancient copies that validate the accuracy of the NT Scriptures alone, overwhelmingly more so than any other such ancient writing; which shows clearly we have the original message intact. A simple "open-minded" study would indicate this to be true to any honest thinking person.Non-Christian, yet intellectually honest, ancient manuscript scholars have admitted this in great numbers.Of course, when your looking for an excuse to reject the truth of God's Word, looking for an excuse to reject God's only offered Savior, Jesus Christ, and looking for an excuse for remaining in sin, opened minded study of Scriptural integrity won't rank high on the "things to do" list.

No.

The Dead Sea Scrolls testify to the accuracy of the people who copied and recopied the Scriptures over the centuries. Despite minor errors, the Dead Sea Scrolls show us that the Old Testament has not changed since it was compiled.

Comparisons to second and third century copies of New Testament writings also show that very little has changed.

This minor miracle actually makes it easier to believe in the Bible.

With love in Christ.

Every Christian knows that Bible is Word of God.Every Christian believe the Word of God.The Bible was written by many people. But Holy spirit made them wrote these books.Originally it was written by Hebrew and Greek languages.King James version was the original translation. Nobody can change the Word of God.It is said in the Bible, Revelation chapter22:18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book.,If anyone adds anything to them God will add to him the plagues described in this book., and if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy. God will take awayfrom his share i n the tree of life and in the Holy city, which are described in this book. so try to read this Holy book first and then ask questions. Try to read the original version.

First of all the Bible was a sort of common law book. It was written in Greek (but I stand to be corrected ) Having many versions doesn't take anything away from it, in fact actually adds to it. As long as the essence of the message is not diluted. The beauty of the Bible is in its acceptance of being able to question it. That alone shows a tremendous sense of foresight.

every version of the bible is compared with the original texts. there is no original text that is written in any language besides ancient Hebrew, Chaldees, Aramaic, Latin and Greek. to translate it to a different language, some stuff are lost in translation because mostly, of differences in cultural realities which are reflected in differences in language. every time there is a translation, an authentic one, the translators try to bring it as close to the original as possible. all basic concepts are kept intact. this is the reason there are Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic, Chaldees, and Latin dictionaries, so that one can confirm how close a translation comes to the original. you can trust the bible if you really are interested in discovering if what you are reading can be trusted.
