Obviously Egg came first. According to evolution birds originated from reptiles So they are also called glorified reptiles .May be some of the reptilian eggs have undergone mutation and it has resulted in the first bird i.e Archeopteryx This bird no longer exist but its fossil has been preserved at London Later on other birds have originated So basically mutation occur only in sex cells and that is carried for generations or that result in new species

Again: the egg is a basic sex cell, which has been in existence long before complex organisms, and complex animals are here because sex cells existed for so long that they changed many, many times. Enter: the chicken. There you go.

Even under Intelligent Design it makes perfect, legitimate sense that "God" created life to evolve, because it has to in accordance with "His" second law of thermodynamics; and the bible is "God's" words written in the words of men (things get lost in translation); so we can all not worry that the egg came first. It fits into your religious beliefs very well.
