GREETINGS FROM TORONTO,

I'm travelling to BKK in November and would VERY MUCH appreciates some recommendations on hotels. I'm a free-lance photographer - I shoot mainly for MAXIM & FHM, however, this trip is purely vacation although I'm ALWAYS scouting for new models and wouldn't turn down the opportunity if it presented itself.

What I'm looking for in a hotel - in order of importance - are the following.

MODERN/UPSCALE
AIR-CONDITIONED (of course!!)
INTERNET ACCESS
SUITES AVAILABLE (I prefer a separate work area.)
"VISITOR" Friendly (Local Girls or Bar Girls)
LOCATION - near Public Transportation or the SKYTRAIN

I am planning to stay approximately 3 weeks and am NOT looking for budget-type accommodation. I am prepared to pay a reasonable amount for a nice setting - high end maybe $200 USD per night.

I'd also appreciate any advice with regards to side-trips or Night Life while I'm in BKK.

THANKS VERY MUCH for your help!!! (Coming to TORONTO? Let me help YOU!!)

I too am making a trip to BKK later this month and have spent the last one month researching extensively regarding deals with different hotels.

I have now come to a conclusion that Lebua at State Tower is the best deal. This is an all suite hotel. This conclusion arises after studying several websites, reviews, rate deals etc. You can get a good one bedroom suite here for less than 100 dollars net of taxes and including ABF.

Vote my answer the best and I will give you a link where you can make an online booking for less than USD 100.

No prizes for guessing where I am gonna stay!!!

A suite in some of the best hotels will cost over US$200! So maybe you want to adjust your rate.

These are around Sukhumvit and give easy access to the Skytrain:
Landmark Hotel
Grand Hyatt Erawan
Four Seasons
Amari Boulevard
Conrad
Plaza Athenee
Intercontinental President
JW Marriot
Nailert Park
Novotel Lotus
Rembrandt
Sheraton Grand
The Davs
The Windsor Suites
Westin Grande

I've stayed at the Westin Grande on Sukhumvit Road and it's a absolutely great hotel! It's quite new and has a very stylish and modern decor in the lobby, restaurants and rooms! Good location because it's about a block from the Skytrain Station so you can easily get all over BKK very quickly. Also, for the "nightlife" one of the districts is also only about a 5-10 min walk away - I think it's called Soi Cowboy.

I recall that it was about a $20-$25 cab ride from the airport. (not exactly sure cuz it was about a yr ago)

Be safe & Have fun!!

Grand Hyatt Erawan, Le Meredien, Banyan Tree, Shangri-la, Continental, Four Season (This is really lovely), Peninsula, Mandarin Oriental.
For Peninsula and Mandarin, you can get to teh BTS by their boat.
My preference: Mandarin Oriental! Grand Hyatt Erawan, Four Seasons.
