My friend has been acting like a jealous punk lately. It seems like every time I get something new he always trys to outdo me with what I have.I just don't get why he's such a hater.I feel if he has a problem he should come talk to me not try to do stupid stuff that's uncalled for.For example when we were on the phone the other day,I was telling him about when the kids would play smear the quear at school how nobody could really take me down cause we were taking about football,he just busted up and said
"Yeah well,I'm a better football player than you." I felt like reaching through the phone and smackin' the hell out of him.I'm tired of the jealousy, what should I do? PLEASE HELP ASAP!

What should you do? You should feel sorry for your friend, he has a very low self esteem and is looking for encouragement. Give him what he wants, a little ego boost. Don't take offense to it. He obviously feels like he is in your shadow. A good friend would talk him up.

Maybe, without realizing it, you have been acting as if you are the school mascot, the one to live up to?

Your friend obviously thinks that he is livng out your fantasy for you and then gets a little jealous and snipes back.

Try and have a good look at how you are behaving before sounding off on him.

Analyse how you might come over to other people and then you will be better informed as to how to deal with him.

Maybe he is feeling a bit insecure at the moment ; heaven only knows being a teenager is riddled with that. Maybe there are problems at home or he is in a hormone crisis.

If he has been a long term good friend to you, ride the storm and see where it takes you.

You are becoming young men and it is possible that the men you become will not survive the teenage and childhood friendship but you will be better person for examining the problem and trying to deal with it in an intelligent way.

Good luck!

You said "if he has a problem he should come talk to me". However, did you notice that you obviously have a problem with him and have not talked to him about it? That might be a good place to start. If you can't work it out, maybe you need to find a new friend.

Just lately he's been acting like this? If that's the case, maybe you could take the initiative to bring up this issue. Ask him is there anything bothering him, why is he acting this way nowadays.

well if he is that jealous then he is not much of a friend and you should find better friends to hang with, a real friend should not be jealous of any friend they should be supportive.
