It's usually caused by the Alloys used in non-pure gold (10,14, and 16 KT Gold). Sometimes people have a reaction to gold colored alloys that are used, if need be try 24KT (Very soft/dents and scratches easily and expensive) or ask your jewler for hypo-allergenic gold items. I used to have this problem when I drank coffee and was wearing a alloyed gold.

Also can be caused by gold plated jewelry.

Hi, im a uk working jeweller, you can email my ben.b link for a personal answer, but youll need more details.
Is it just one, perhaps not gold ring, or generally gold does this?
All jewellery gold is an alloy, mixed with other metals, and at 14k theres a lot of other metals to play with, as its only (just over) fifty percent pure.
To ease modern manufacturing proccesses, many "dirty" metals are added, mainly to help flow in casting moulds. they include zinc (battery metal....dispose of carefully, may explode, etc!) and nickle, cadnium (batteries!) and so forth.
You may well have a hyper sensitivity to even trace amounts of these.

Herein lies a question that really shouldn't be answered too honestly if the rings on the questioner's fingers were gifts.
