I know this may sound funny but try flea markets. Or you can check out the antique stores. Also, check the classifieds in your local paper for estate auctions or people selling furniture. Do a little research at the local library to find the exact style that you are looking for. There are several different styles that fall into the colonial/early American style. Such as William and Mary , Queen Anne, Shaker, etc.
