So what's your very absolute best memory growing up with your Mom and/or Dad--funny, loving, nostalgic (please nothing angry!)
I always think of those snow days (home from school), holidays, and the summer weekends with Dad firing up the grill (and I do mean firing up--the man used a shot of gasoline to get it going!!)

When I was about 4 or so my mother and I were walking home from the general store and there was snow on the ground and it was very cold. I had no gloves and my fingers were freezing and my mom took both of my hands and put them in her pocket and although it was hard to walk that way my hands got warmer and I got an awesome memory!
Dad use to sing in a group for the church we went to as a child and I can remember him getting up to go sing with them. As he was walking up to the front he would take his gum from his mouth and put it behind his ear. I loved to hear my dad sing. Also Dad would listen to "his music" late at night. Many nights I went to sleep to merl haggard.

MOM - growing up in the 60's, on hot summer days, no AC, mom would put the two lounge chairs in the shade between our house and the neighbor's and all five of us would pile in them with her and she would read books to us in the afternoon.

DAD - when i was about 10-12 years old my dad would tell my mom we were going to late mass, after she had already taken the other kids earlier. We would then pull up in front of church, I would sneak in and grab a church paper, then we would go to the bowling alley and bowl, just the two of us. So fun, to get to have time with my dad alone, and to put one over on mom.

When I'd get badly scraped up from falling off my bike on the gravel driveway (which seemed to happen a lot, for some reason) Daddy would treat it with a drop from a bottle of tincture of merthiolate (it's neon orange). This would sting so I'd holler even louder, but then he'd make me laugh by painting funny pictures with the merthiolate on the unbroken skin.

Mom's lullabies ("too-ra-loora-loora") and her perfume: Secret of Venus.

i seem as if a blend of both one in each and every of them. i won't be able to say which one i look more effective like than the different. My good factors are type of balanced between them. i imagine the actually reason i'd somewhat seem more effective like my dad is because we've an same epidermis colour

Catching them smooching in the kitchen. Now I'm married and out of the house, but when I'm there, I still catch them smooching in the kitchen. Some kids might get grossed out by that but I always think they are cute!

being in church with them when I was very small. I liked to take their hand and trace around their fingers, I remember feeling pride in hearing my Father pray. My Mother had a coat with a red silk lining and I would make roads in it and pretend.

when my mom got infuriated with my dad at dinner table and she grabbed the salt shaker and started vigorously shaking it onto his head. We all had a good laugh

With my dad, it was him reciting Edgar Allan Poe to me (Doth quote the Raven, NEVERMORE!!!), and later, him and singing together, just us.

With my mom, travelling - she used to take me with her on trips sometimes for work, I got to leave school and go places! And later, she liked to talk to me about stuff that she wouldn't other people because she knew I wouldn't judge or be shocked or anything (not that she did anything to be shocked about, lol), she could be herself with me I guess. Actually, my dad told me stuff like that too.

It's a good thing not to judge people, let them be themselves, you'd be surprized the gems you find. Perhaps that's the best gift they gave me.
