did you go to a real salon? They should fix it for free, unless they want you to report them to the BBB. If you did it at home, you may have to go to a salon to get it fixed. That will cost quite alot of money.

You've going to need a lot of chemical processing to undo the damage that's been created. First of all, you will have to remove all of the color that has been put into your hair. Yes, this means bleach -- (no not clorox). You will need lightener plus peroxide in the strength of 40. This will be needed to get all the black dye and red pigments out of your hair. You would be best to get a lightening product from a hairdresser, as these chemicals are far less harsh then drug store products. If you can't afford it, then get the blondissima super and use 40 strength peroxide instead of the one that comes in the box. mix it up and apply to your hair, starting with the crown of your head. Do the ends first, then the roots. It's heat activated so the nape of the neck and roots will be quickest to process. Leave this on for NO MORE then 45 minutes. Check the processing with a damp cloth every 10 minutes, because you're not sure how quickly the colour will lift. When it lightens to a pale yellow color (like a canary or banana), stop the processing. Rinse thoroughly. You can then fill the cuticle of the hair using a non-ammonia, semi permanent hair color such as Clairol Natural Instincts in a beige blonde or neutral blonde shade. Give you scalp and hair intense hair treatment for a few weeks using Joico K-Pak (sold at the hairdresser) or Terax Hair treatment 3 times a week, because all this processing will have dried your hair significantly. Once your hair has regained its health after a month or two, go to a hairdresser and have your highlights and lowlights put in.

I had a friend in the same boat. While I can't tell you what to do to fix it I can tell you what happened to her. She immediatly tried to dye it a diffrent shade. That only scratched the surface. She then went to a cosmetics shop and got dye coloring stripper. That didn't work. She ended up having to go to a hair salon and getting it fixed.
I suggest that you go back and say that you aren't at all happy with the results and see if they will cut you a deal if they can fix it. As a consumer you did ask for something in which you didn't recieve they should have to fix their mistake.

Well at this point if you re-dye it your going to damage your hair. About your only options (since you sound like you cant afford a salon) are to go buy hair color remover. You prob wont get totally even results, its likely to be an orangey yellowish brown. Or to dye it a darker brown, it will likely fade quickly to a lighter color since youve processed it once. This is prob your best bet to getting an even color. You will end up with hilights and lowlights this way. Or even trying an auburn color. And you can always use a spray in lightener like sun in to lighten it after a few days. My hair has had a few disasters. I know you were hoping for a lighter brown, but once you process your hair, future color changed usually fade to a much lighter color in a week or two. Or to bleach it, but your gonna end up with very light sections, and darker orange sections (where its black). My recommendation is to go darker. And try Ferria. Its got a pretty good cover up reputation for me. Its going to be damaged, even if you only dye your hair once. Use lots of condidtioners, and get regular snips to avoid split ends. Good luck.

hmmm@ black and orange... i think the black is really dark brown, and its just a huge diff, they only chance u have at saving your hair and maybe even a good color at this point is professional help.. but if thats to pricey for ya...try waiting 48 hours so the hair folicle can close back up...that may reduce sme of thre damage to your hair...and try stripping it..try a strawberry blonde...because of the orange you allready say you have..that might disguise it massively...then try putting light blonde high lights in it in a week after tht..

Exactly why is everyone with blond, why aren't you just have jet black curly hair with some blonde or blonde tresses with some jet black hair. Now you don't have to choose.

This girl should have Had her instructor help her. You really have to go to a colorist. let them know exactly what was used. you hair will be damaged, but it will grow back. The color wheel is a hard thing to follow if you don't know what your doing. The colorist will probably have to turn it one color than lift the highlights.

Why didn't you go to a professional?
This is what you get for being cheap.
Go to a hairdresser in the morning and let them fix your hair without it falling out.

Go to a Sally's and ask what they recommend. There are hair color removers that even the layman can do at home!

if you have blonde hair it will naturally get bleached by the sun in the summer. There was this guy in my class who else had golden blonde hair that was a medium brown near the base. When he came back to college after summer vacation, it was almost platinum blonde!
