That was what I used to asked my Sunday school teacher. She didn't have an answer, which was one of the reasons i became an atheist as soon as I was old enough to know better.

The misconception, brought about by those that state that their interpretation is the only interpretation, is that the Holy Bible is flawless. When in fact, it depends on the version you happen to be reading as they all differ, though slightly.

I am in no way trying to denounce the Bible in any way, but there are numerous contradictions within it's pages at which none of the various versions are exempt.

The New Testement for example has the same event written about by four different writers, yet they describe events differently, though they are the same event.

The Bible is what it is for the believers. It is a personal conversation with God. The storoes of the Old Testement, as well as the New Testement are basically examples set forth to get a point across. That's why Jesus spoke in parables, to have the listener think about what the message was instead of the specific words being spoken.

Anyone who says that the Bible has no scientific errors is incorrect.

We aren't told the Bible has no scientific errors or that it doesn't have any errors, we are just told it is the word of God. People do a logical connection since God is perfect, therefore his word is perfect, so the Bible is perfect. Science is a modern invention it didn't exist when the Bible was written. And remember the Bible was written in Hebrew and Greek, then translated to Latin, then translated to modern languages. Lots of words have two differnt meanings Adam in hebrew means Adam but also means earth. And then again we don't have the originals only copies of copies, so what could have been one word could be mistaken for another. Ever played the telephone game.

With four different questions, I will take a moment and answer this one and this one only.

The Christian believes the [Christian] bible is the word of God as spoken through the prophets. You either believe it or you don't. It is reveal knowledge and the scientific method does not apply. The bible has no scientific errors because there is no scientific information. The bible tells over and over that there are other books dealing with nonreligious aspects, e.g. history.

So what is the bible? The bible is about two covenants: God and the Israelites and God and the Christian believers. You are quoting some of the 613 commandments that Jews observed today.

The second begins with four accounts about Jesus life, his death, and his resurrection. There is no scientific observation regarding Jesus, just belief.

One more thing, the bible interprets itself. There is no other source necessary to clear up any misunderstandings. Simple put, God reveals, man observes.

The section that you love to comment deals with food and drink allowed to Jews.

Life was very simple in the Bible days. If it flew, perhaps it was considered to be a bird. I've also read references to sea monsters. We have no way of knowing what they actually were. That's not the point. The Bible is the perfect and complete Word of God. It gives the history of the creation of the earth, all living things and humanity. Many occurrences in the Bible have been proven to be correct, scientifically, but again, that is not the point. Faith is to believe without proof.

Let's start with the simple answer. Obviously, Linnean classification was not available in the time of the writing of Leviticus and Deuteronomy, and the scientific definition of what a "bird" was did not exist either. Classification of animals and things was made by different means: function or form. In this case, the word we render birds means simply "owner of a wing", the word being 'owph, which comes from a root word which means to cover or to fly.

There aren't any scientific errors now,..... Everyday may children are subjected to an educational system the refuses to teach truth... In history and science. Even if it weren't for creationism, evolution is bad science, with no real claim for fact, it is entirely conjecture.. Numerous other theories could account for the same evidence.....In history many facts are ignored, or changed outright to fit the humanistic agenda.. so don't point a finger at on source of history, without making sure your own delusions have been dealt with.

You take the bible too literally. You need to come to the realization that the Bible was written before mainstream scientifc acknowledgement. It was also written by man, and translated throughout time into the many different languages that it is in today.

Anything created by man is exposed to errors, for man in this time and stage of evolution is an imperfect source of knowledge and understanding.

Good point. Those who continue to hold to the idea that the Bible has no error are deceiving themselves and others. The Biblical writers also assume that the earth is flat, and they assume that the sky (firmament) is a hard dome, beyond which heaven is situated. The book is riddled with inconsistencies and impossibilities that it causes me to question our society's ability to think critically and logically. You raise a good point, I'm curious as to how others will try to harmonize the Biblical writings with a literalist point of view.

Man has sorted the animals by species and genus. God created the animals. That means that He created the dinosaurs too and other prehistoric creatures. Bats could possible be cousins of the winged creatures, teradactyl, and not the fowl.

Who with any intelligence & education ever said the Bible had no scientific error or was utterly perfect? Not Biily Graham or Pope John Paul or even lesser known leaders.
