There are several things your veterinarian might recommend to treat the patient with flatulence prior to instituting a more complete diagnostic work up.
Discourage rapid ingestion of food by feeding smaller, more frequent meals. Dogs that gulp their food should be fed alone. The food may also be separated into small quantities that are given in different bowls or locations, or released slowly by an automatic dispenser.
Do not allow your dog access to spoiled food. Keep him confined to the house or yard and supervise all outdoor activities. Create an environment that does not allow your dog access to garbage or trash.
Change your pet’s diet to one that is low in fiber and easily digested.
Simethicone, a substance found in many over the counter antacids that absorbs and eliminates gas, can be helpful in some animals.

There has been no recall on dry dog/cat food. Plus Old Roy Dog Food is not even on the recall list. Try changing your dogs food every now and then. If you keep feeding them the same food over and over and over they will get sick from the same food. Switch to Purina. That is what I give my 2 dogs. Plus Old Roy isn't very good for dos/animals. Sorry if you have a pet loss. My sympathy to you. I had a pet loss on May 16th 2006. A rabbit that I had had forever.

Corn is in plenty of dog foods. It's a shame, since it is so hard to digest, and therefore causes gas.
Nutro Natural does't contain corn. Since your girl is elderly, you might try Nutro Natural Lite, so that she doesn't gain too much weight. Also, I believe that Nutro Natural has a senior formula, too.
Nutro Natural is available at Petsmart and Petco, and other pet supply kinds of places. I find it reasonably priced, too. Good luck, Fiercekitten, with your girl. - Duch

I would look at the label and not buy anything that has by-products. There are some brands that have better grades of meat protein in them. Look for Canidae, Royal Canin, or Sensible Choice. These brands are supherb. I feed my dogs Canidae, and they never have any problems.

i have a dog thats 13, and shes really active. we just feed her any regular food, i actually like giving her food that you can pour water over, she likes that, and shes healthy because of Beniful. and really hard dog food helps with her teeth, we give her the pourable kind in Winter time so that we can pour warm water over her food, and she has short fur, so it keeps her warm. i hope this helps you
