Religious freedom is one thing, but allowing the muslims to spread their religion along with their recruitment of terrorists is just plain dumb. They are building terrorist cells under the guise of practicing their religion.

No, stupid girl, religious freedom is THE thing. Most Muslims aren't terrorists, but simply people trying to live in the best way they know how. Would you allow Christianity to be banned because a few of thm bomb (legal!) abortion clinics? I'd bet a buck that right now you're whining "But that's different!".

Being a muslim myself, I have to say that I'm sorry you've been so misinformed about the true meaning of Islam, and what kind of people we are. The majority of muslims want peace, and are against terrorism. Those terrorists you are talking about only make up about 1% of all muslims. Personally, I believe that there are a lot of people who are terrorists who aren't muslims. Timothy McVey was a terrorist, and he was an American. He was one of the worst terrorists in the history of America.

99% of muslims are completely against harming innocent people, and the way fundamentalists have grossly misrepresented true muslims. Islamic fundamentalists misinterpret verses in the Quran as an excuse to be violent toward others. If you get a chance to read the Quran, you will see that when it calls for violence, that is only as a last resort, or when people would threaten the life of our prophet. Fundamentalists misinterpret the meaning of Jihad. Jihad is not always about fighting. The meaning of Jihad is a striving or fighting in the cause of Islam. This can mean a number of different things. Usually, it is used to describe a life of service and obedience to God through prayer. I hope the hate will stop some day, but I've just come to accept that there will always be people who will hate us, even if the majority of us are good. May Allah bless all Muslims. By the way, there is no way Islam could be banned in the U.S. That is against our belief in freedom of religion. Plus, Islam is the fastest growing religion in the U.S., with a new following of an additional 100,000 per year. Peace.

First, I think AJ is the only one who gave a real answer.
You asked the question should the muslim religion be banned.
I do not think the religion should be banned only because the root of the problem is not their religion.
I will tel you why.
Economically, the root is the poverty within muslim countries which has two main components. The economies of the west by definition absorb more goods and are more active thus the greater muslim world is mor eimpoverished. Capitalism is a balance. My dollar earned is your dollar lost. If muslim countries were akin to european countries economically many would not come to the united states. So improving the internal economies of muslim countries would defeat the idea that blowing up america can solve their problem. The problem their is that most arab countries are led by governments that have no social mobility plan and do not force their wealthy to share the wealth. the saudi royal family is wealthier than the waltons yet the people they administer do not revolt agaisnt them, aka the french on the eve of the revolution.
Politically,
america's bill of rights does not allow the denial of a citizens religion.I wonder the statute on illegal immigrants, some are muslim.Though it must be said that those that agree with the idea of banning islam exist and can make state law or city law as long as the supreme court accepts it, and the supreme court is republican in majority. As for muslim countries, many have laws written or unwritten that do not allow all people to commit to their religion. So if america was to deny a religion it would have legal precedence. But more importantly, what it is to be muslim in many muslim countries must change. I am not a muslim or christian. But , I have been to muslim countries at the ground level . Islam is akin to jehovahs witness in terms of its evangelism. This is a problem. Second, jihad started in the crusades after christians started the traditon of cutting of heads. But, muslims today do not have the solidarity that Salahadin preached desired and enforced. So they can not be an army in the traditional sense. Terrorist groups act as the defender of islam not muslim countries. the govenrments must unite themselves and offer a better solution to defending islam. but once again they bicker to much fo rthat.
Last but not least socially,
as a young man not arab, muslim, or from the middle east I come from a different relationship towards america and the greate West. I can tell you though that their have been days where I have been angrier and more hateful than they can ever comprehend. the difference is that they are influenced by their local communities that islam is not simply a religion but themselves so when they are poor islam is poor , when they are hungry islam is hungry. When their home is bombed islam is bombed. They have to see that they are not the only ones who have and still do suffer in this world. And that they are more fortunate than they may realise.
So banning the religion will not solve the economic political and social generators of their rage. The rage that gives them the strength to not only kill others but themselves.

Banning the muslim faith would be going against everything this country was founded for. I am here to to tell you that not every muslim is a terrorist or vice versa. I have personally dealt with terrorists who were not muslums at all. Religion isn't the only reason for violence or hatred. Don't let the fact that the news media has focused only on the muslim terrorists cloud your mind, do some research and you'll understand why I say what I say. The research won't be easy though, it will take time.

Most Muslims are not terrorists nor do they spread hate. Banning a religion would go against the principles upon which this country was founded. It would also be extremely impractical. Even if we tore down the mosques, burned the Qur'an, stripped the women of their headcoverings, cancelled all flights to Saudi Arabia so Muslims could not make the hajj, installed internet filters that would block all forbidden material, monitored all financial transactions, forced every person in this country to publicly eat a slice of ham at high noon during Ramadan and listened into people's home to be sure there was no Islamic discussion taking place, we still could not be sure that there wasn't someone in this country silently saying "There is no God but Allah and Muhammed is his prophet."

That is a broad statement to make when you consider that HATRED is the underlying cause of ALL terror. Terrorists use the guise of "religion" to spark up their base to justify committing atrocities and acts of terror. Certain sects of the three major religions have been apart of atrocious acts in some form or another for the past 2,000+ years. These times were professied 2000 years by Jesus himself and are in detail in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21. I hope this helps!

That's like saying the Christians should be banned due to the fact of Waco or Jim Jones. Or That the New Ager's should be banned because of Heavens Gate.

The problem with Terrorists is the fact that no matter which religion they claim to follow, their love for killing inocent people would still be the same.

Terrorism is it's own religion. But to say that just because a certain religion is being "claimed" by a bunch of blood thirsty murderers is not right.

Religion has nothing to do with it.

I think you should research more. See who is more terrorist; Muslims, or western governments ? There are bad people in all religions & countries, we should not blame the religion if some people do some bad things. Be sure preaching Islam is not preaching terrorism & killing, it's against war.preaching more peace & happiness in people's hearts. You can ban the religion in your country, but who can ban the belief in Muslims' hearts?! No one, Never!

Probably people who believe as strongly as you do about this subject should move to a communist or other dictator-run autocratic country as you would feel more comfortable with their tight control on the populice and restricted freedoms for all to think, worship, study, work, have more than one child, whatever the case may be. Look into China perhaps. I understand they have thousands of "minders" who make sure you won't look up anything such as "Tieneman Square" or "democracy in China" without punishment. Now they have a real handle on how to keep people in control, they would have no problem banning any religion-and in effect have banned religion already-not like the U.S. wimpy constitution..

For the record: Islam is a faith of peace... not terrorism. The fact that some of the terrorist have been muslim and justified their acts of violence with the Qu'ran only means that they have misrepresented and misunderstood what the Prophet was trying to get across to them.

As a Christian, I can tell you that misinterpretation of the Bible has caused countless wars and millions of deaths... that doesn't make Christianity bad... it means people have to be careful who they listen to...

Banning Islam because some terrorists are muslim would be akin to sending all black people back to Africa because a few of them are gang-bangers.

Incidentally... Timothy McVeigh wasn't a muslim. The Unibomber wasn't muslim... the kids who took out Columbine weren't muslim... Those were horrible acts of terrorism, planned by Americans against Americans on American soil.

Don't throw out the baby with the bathwater, my friend.
