I work at a restaurant and I noticed women/girls give you the evil glare if you smile and are friendly when they come in with a guy or boyfriend. I don't understand this, I make it a point to address everyone at the table equally and be nothing but friendly and professional, and still I get the girls giving me attitude when everyone else at the table is nothing but friendly, and glares which look like they are thinking "I hate you!" Even out in public some women do that...Seriously...what is up with that!?

First of all, no it's not a suggestive smile. I am quite a shy gal, but I'm friendly, so even with a single guy I'm not one to be overly flirtatious. Second of all, I treat everyone the same. Like someone else said, it just hurts my feelings a bit because I'm nothing but friendly, but these women act like I'm the worst person ever with the evil stares they give me. Dang, if looks could kill! :)

Some of these women may (or may not be, I don't know them) be a little insecure. The possiblilities range from being hurt in the past, their current man is a wannabe playa, self esteem issues or they are just flat out unfriendly to everyone.
Possesiveness does suck, but we are all capable of it. Without getting all Dr. Phil (evil dumb bastard) on you, I have to recommend Rule # 1 of easy living (courtesy of my good friend Air, patent pending): Let it go.
You work there and you are doing an outstanding job by being friendly to your guests to begin with. I work in the kitchen of restaurants and I have seen the horrors of guests in the front of the house. You should know that guests can be crappy at times and we deal as best we can. hopefully they are isolated incidents and you will be rewarded for your good customer service with great tips.
The Dude always tips well, cuz he knows servin' is a tough gig, man. Good luck!

I think it has alot to do with girls that give you the "evil glare" are bitter, jealous,& threatened by the one they look at like that. She may have walked in with a boyfriend into your restaurant but she is NOT confident about herself or relationship therefore being defensive & arrogant. You appear to be very well mannered & confident about yourself. Don't feel intimidated by these catty weak minded girls. At the end of the day, you're the one happy. No matter how much you would like everyone to treat you with the same respect you give them, it's just not going to happen b/c those kind of girls almost never change & will always be insecure. Just be proud that you're not like them & don't let them get to you...the second they walked in the door...you got to them. If you want a tip I suggest you kiss the womans a** not the mans. Most women control their mans wallet. They are just letting you know to back off I guess. Men dont need you to be friendly to them when they are with a woman. That gets them in trouble. You are probably a total flirt and you dont even realize it.

This means you are really hot and they feel threatened. They might not even know they are behaving like this. I used to waitress so I know exactly what you're saying. Just keep being professional and ignore the looks and know that you are a hottie!

Maybe they take it as 'flirting'? Could be that you may be over-friendly...or maybe they are shy and don't know that they are reacting that way. I just wouldn't take it personally. Just do your job like you always have.

Maybe they think you are inappropriately staring at them or may think that your smile is suggestive.
