It's almost 6000 years old. Wow! That's old! When it hits exactly 6000 years, Jesus will return with a bunch of sky horses and bowls and stuff to kill everyone who isn't a TRUE Christian, for God so loved the world that he sent his only son to kill everyone and destroy it.

dont confuse the issue of how old is the earth, with how old is the matter from which the earth formed.

even though i believe that God created the earth and the rest, the materials could have been around for billions of years. therefore, the radio-carbon dating thing does not work. no carbon, no dating.

i also have to acknowledge (i'm a scientist) that the dinosaurs and "early" animals predate our written history, even the beginning of the bible, by quite some time.

therefore, the time of creation of the earth becomes irrelevant, since it is the amount of time that life has been on it.

Well, it's only 3.5 minutes old. You see, God is really just a good old practical joker. What he did is, create everything you see 3.5 minutes ago, you and me and everyone, complete with the memories we think we have, of times past. That bike you got on your 10th. birthday, "never happened", it's all just illusion. LOL, is God a crack-up or what. You should see him at a frat party!

Oh! creationists, try to prove that I'm wrong.

How old is old, so consider this.

One Religious theory suggests that God wrote the Bible for humans, but if God genuinely existed, he probably wrote thousands of Bibles for other intelligent life-forms.

The universe is about 15 to 20 billion years old.
Our solar system is about 4.5 billion years old.
Humans have been around for less than 1 million years.
Therefore all human Religions, Gods, Bibles have been around for less than 1 million years.

Since the universe consists of billions of billions of stars, there will be billions of stars capable of supporting life on other planets orbiting them.

The universe has been around for more than 99.99% of the total time and humans for less than 0.01% of the time. On a universal scale, humans have only been around for a blink of an eye. Most other life in the universe has been around much longer. Science would suggest the probability of intelligent life existing on another planet elsewhere in our universe is over 99%.

Religion suggests that God created the universe and wrote the Bible for humans. So for the other intelligent life in our universe which has been around far longer than humans, God must have produced thousands of other Bibles for them.
