See, free will not to believe is a load of bullshit. Sorry to be so blunt about it. You have a god that says "believe in be if you wish, you are free to do so and do what you want... p.s. if you don't believe what i say, you'll burn in hell for all eternity" and then you have him with devine revelation, doing miracles, and supposedly satan doing bad things, so all in all, it is a huge ignorant contradiction.
Oh, and you covered it perfectly with your serpent example. If god is all knowing and knows the past, present, and FUTURE, you cannot have free will because it would mean he wouldn't know.

Where is the logic of this? That would only be true if God could not stop the serpent from tempting, which is not what we are told happened. And while free will is not a cliche, we will not use that in this discussion.
God knew the serpent, Satan, would tempt Eve. He allowed this.
He did not act out of impotence, but rather omnipotence. He knew what His plan was, that even though the serpent would tempt Eve and she would eat of the fruit, God had an answer. The answer is Jesus Christ. God also knew that He would one day have Satan thrown into the lake of fire. If the serpent is more powerful than God, how can God have the serpent thrown out of heaven, made to wander around the earth tempting men, locked in a bottomless pit for 1000 years, let out at the time God decides, and then thrown into the lake of fire for eternity?
God allowed Satan to tempt Eve, and allowed Adam and Eve to sin not because He could do nothing else, but rather because He knew He could do something else. He could offer a way for reconciliation between Himself and His children. Satan acted and God allowed him to act. That is not any indication that God was not powerful to stop Satan if He chose.

You logic makes no sense. You assume just because he knew the serpent would temp Eve and did not physically prevent it that the serpent is more powerful. Then you criticize the explanation of this as free will and want another explanation? There was and continues to be a great controversy in heaven and the universe on rather God is just or Satan's ways are just and good. God has allowed Satan to carry out his plan of rebellion so that the results of his actions, such as this evil world filled with pain and misery and death, could be seen by all and God will be justified forever as fair and just and good. If he prevented Eve from ever being tempted, it could be argued that God did not even give Man a fair chance to choose for himself.
Hope that helps Atheist-botherer

Yes God new luicifer would temp Eve and that was her choice she made a bad choice but then again most women do lol. my Grandfather was an atheist and right up until he was dieing he beleived it. As he took his last breaths I was 14 he grabbed my arm and said Rosey darling there is a GOD I was foolish don't follow me honey. I didn't and I hope that somewhere down the line you'll soften your heart and let God show you who he really is no satan isn't stronger than God but you would have to experience the difference to beleive it. Day before yesterday my grandson got hit by a car doing 40 mph. I hit my knees and did all the praising and telling god how wonderful he is but I said lord I have to give you your glory fast because my baby is really hurt and since you allowed him to be torn apart only you can put him back together again. So I'm asking in the Name of Jesus repair my baby and guide the hands in surgery to make him perfect again. When we got to the hospital they said he was irrepairable but they were going to try anyway. Some how they found the way to fix him whole again and they said it was a miracle. He's home now and God gave him back to me. I have more miracles of equal strength to tell you if you want to hear some are funny some are wow but god gave me the mustard seed of beleif.. God bless you and all you need to do is get baptised in Jesus name and filled with the holy ghost and you'll have a different out look at our maker Thank You Grandma Rosey

Of course God knew. But He let it happen anyway. God didn't make man perfect, so He had to know we could be tempted -- and choose evil.
I think that story is a parable. It's what happens to all humans - you get older and then you begin to lose your innocence. You begin to understand the concept of good and evil. With that comes the ability to use your free will to commit a sin. And the story tells us that when we sin we lose communication with God and are punished for it.

Actually, the bible itself takes away the sin caused by the apple thing. The bible claims sins were taken away bc jesus sacrificed himself. So, Eve was forgiven and the sin never happened.
So, everything should have been turned back to the way it was before Eve was tricked into eating the apple.
Of course, the bible is a fairy tale so it's not supposed to make any sense.

God is secure and powerful enough to take a punch or two, but there's no doubt who will win the main bout.
Read the last book in the Bible. God wins, and so do we.

You do resent the 'free will' part don't you? Don't like knowing that you will be held accountable for your actions? Sorry! You are in the same boat as all the rest of us.
