i wore invisalign for a year and a 1/2 and they're great. Although the dentist tells you to wear the aligners for 20hrs a day, you shouldnt really screw anything up too bad by keeping them out during sports. The aligners will feel tight for a little while after first placing them back in. I've had to keep mine out for extended periods of time here and there and my case came out great. Just wear them AS MUCH AS YOU CAN. good luck

Interesting question... I make custom fit mouth guards and these are always a problem for people with braces. It wouldn't be too different for Invisalign patients. If you have a custom fit mouth guard, it would not fit very long as your teeth are moving due to the Invisalign. Although custom mouth guards work better and are more comfortable, I would suggest that you try a drug store or sporting goods store for a Shock Doctor mouth guard. This would fit over your teeth pretty much however they are positioned, as long as you get the right size. I would say to take your Invisalign appliance out while you are wearing the mouth guard. It is pretty durable, but it is also conceivable (to me) that you might get hit in the mouth in such a way to damage the appliance and/or cut your gums with it.

You might find specific information at http://www.invisalign.com regarding sports mouth guards.

If it is a generic mouthpiece then yes, you can. Invisalign braces are very thin, but if you have a mouthpiece that is formed to fit your teeth specifically then chances are the invisalign would have to come out.

Best of luck to you.
