Im looking to join the marines (im going for force recon) But I recently decided to get a tattoo. I know it cant have certain content on it, but im more concerned with were to put it. I know its cant be seen in uniform, but which one of the uniforms, all of them?

I want it on the inside of my forearm, In short sleeve you can see it. But not in the long sleeve in the traditional blue uniform.

Here's a hint, John V, unless you are with 8th & I, MSG (Embassy Guard) or a recruiter, you will rarely wear your dress blues, (I have fingers left over when I count the number of times I had occasion to wear mine) and long sleeves will only be worn during the winter months, so the tattoo on your forearm is out.

The guideline while I was in (96-01) was above the elbow and below the neck, I believe the calf was acceptable because it could only be seen with shorts (i.e.- pt gear), but I would check with the recruiter for the latest guidance on that.

from what i have been told, nothing on your hands, or neck or face. and if it is visible in the service charlies, (short sleeves) it will prevent you from certain jobs. i dont know if force recon is one of those jobs, but i wouldnt get it on my forearm, or atleast wait until done with recruit training and soi.

Marines are closely associated with the navy arent they? How about a "No Entry" tattoo on your buttocks? Or if you like it that way a "Slippery When Wet"
