No. James 2:19 2:19You believe that God is one. You do well. The demons also believe, and shudder
What James was trying to say was that belief in God is empty. Even the demons believe in God, so it's no big deal. Actually everyone knows that God is real, they choose to believe a lie.
So James was saying that Faith without works is dead. There is no such thing as Faith without some action behind it. I don't know why it's so difficult for even Christians to understand what James was saying. Belief in God means nothing, you must follow God. It's a narrow path, not a wide path. Just beleiving would be a very wide path.

It depends on which version of the devil you are referring to. The Christian devil was once one of the most revered and loved angels but had the mindset of "I would rather rule in hell than serve in heaven". This leads to a simple question that always got the nuns more than a little mad. If you need balance for something to exist, how did heaven and all that was in it exist before hell was created? By a sense of balance I mean opposites; without good there can be no evil, without darkness one would never know what light was, up and down, left and right. Without an opposite to compare something to, you never really know the extend of something. Think of it like this, if a child is never told "no" when they are young they won’t be able to cope with things when they get older. The same thing goes with "the devil". 99% of me leans to the side that says he / it is a man made legacy invented to keep people on the straight and narrow path of life.

Even so, if he / it was created then that – sadly – would mean that the opposite side of the coin [god] was also created. There is a lot to be said for people who have conspiracy theories regarding the true history of "the church". Your question is a solid one, the same could be asked about what ever god you worship. In most religions there is only one "god" [while there may be other deities worshiped, there is only one 'lead guy']. If god is against all that violates his law then that could be taken that anything that violated the commandments or rules could be considered evil. Evil is only a stones throw away from the devil .. at least that is what the church would have you believe. If a man steals a loaf of bread he is wrong but if he steals a loaf of bread to feed his family, all of a sudden he isn't looked upon as a true criminal. The devil, it is said, is the one that tempts us in our every day life. If that is the case then how can there be free will? I'm surprised there aren't more nuns and priests on Yahoo Answers, they would have you listening to tales of wonder and merriment … but with nothing solid to back it up.

Does the devil believe in more than one god? I wouldn't go so far as to say that he / it "believes" in anything on the opposite side. To believe in something is to give it power … like fear. Kids don’t know fear … they aren't afraid of the dark until someone tells them about the boogeyman. Same thing with the devil … don’t tell someone about the concept of "the devil" and chances are they'll never feel the need to worry endlessly about where their soul goes, eternal damnation or any of those rather preposterous concepts cooked up by the church to keep patrons coming back week after week, kicking their cash into the collection plate to try and buy a better seat in heaven.

The passage reads that the devil believes in one god. In this passage James ridicules those who say salvation is by faith alone. He says the devils believe in God. Will their faith save them?

In later parts of the bible, faith will save them.

1 John 4:2
Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God.

1 John 4:15
Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

1 John 5:1
Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God.

Devil acknowledges the one true God.. his creater. But with great pride, he promoted himself as God. His goal is to decieve as many people as he could to worship him in the pits of hell.

Whatever will confuse a man, he is there. the answer will always depend where he can lead you awayfrom the true God. Just be careful and discerning..not all food that is good to eat are nutritious...a good teaching can also be misleading.

Even the demons know that there is one God (see Duet.6:4) but they do not love Him (See Deut.6:5). Their kind of belief does not lead to love, submission, and obedience; instead it leads to hatred, rebellion and disobedience.

No he doesnt. He knows the truth and he doesnt want anyone else to know it. Thats why theres all these false religions. He wants people to be confused. Even though he knows he's going to lose in the end he still wants to bring as many people down with him as he can.
