I have had the same problem recently but I have a Ford Explorer. I took it for a scope and it came back that it was a environmental code. What was causing this error was the gas cap. Since the gas cap wasn't on correctly it was emitting slight fumes from the tank so this read as an error and the engine light kept coming on.Try checking your gas cap and see that its on correctly if it is it may be that you need a new gas cap. A gas cap that may not fit right or its old may cause the engine light to keep coming on if its the environmental code. Try putting a new gas cap on and see what happens. After all this if the engine light still comes on have it scoped to identify the problem.

Your car will display this light for any and all little things that might go wrong with your engine. Somethings are serious and some are minor, like your gas cap is not sealing.(it needs to be replaced).
You can go buy a code reader(a couple hundred dollars) if you are mechanically inclined to see what the code is or you can spend 50.00 to 100.00 to take it to a garage each time that stupid light comes on.
