Horse racing in England was historically run clockwise......Part of the American revolution was to buck this rule / tradition. Thats an answer for the "hourse" races. And its true, too.

running both ways would cause confusion, and with horses, its a training thing. If your horse always runs when going to the left, you will be able to turn him around and he will be calmer. And that way you only have to build the track to function one way.... the starting gates, everything.

I don't know. Maybe they don't have time to run clock wise. Ha Ha Ha. Get it. They don't have "TIME" to run clock wise. LOL. I crack me up. Seriously, Running clockwise would be really stupid now wouldn't it? Peace and God bless.
