I want to date this guy but my parents won't let me. They won't even let me talk to him. I know they want to protect me, but they say that if I am even caught talking to him they will put him in jail. I don't want to get him in trouble, but I also don't want to lose his friendship so I was wondering if a 16 year old could date a guy that was 21 with out the parents permission in the state of Arkansas?

Reminds me of...hmm- (Try being 16 dating a 27 year old-they would prob have a coronary!!!)...Your parents are freakin' out because they are watching their little girl grow up. It is ridiculous to think they can arrest him for you communicating with him...that is crazy! (Most states, unsure of AZ ;The age of consent (where you have freedom to date someone older) is 16...I don't know if this applies where you are- but GOOGLE "Age of Consent Arizona" and see what that tells you.)What about other older people you talk to? Are your parents going to fetch the cops on every 21 plus year old you show interest in?..Either- Way your risks and do things YOUR way...or Heed Their Words and earn extra kudos from the 'rents...
Only YOU know what the repercussions will be.

I personally don't see anything wrong with it, but just to be on the safe side, you might just want to stay friends until you're 18. In a way, that works out great because you'll both already know each other better than you do now. Since your parents are against it, maybe you could ask them if they would at least let him come over for dinner a few times. They'll get to know a little about him and may even change their mind about him. And even if they don't, you'll still have a jumpstart for your relationship with him in two years because they'll already know him a little. =) I hope things work out for you.

Yes a 16 year old can date a 21 year old but should they? I think that if you really care about this guy and he really cares about you then you can wait until your 18 to start dating him. In the mean time concentrate on School and hanging out with your Friends. i think you can still be friends with the guy but if your parents don't approve of you dating the guy then you should just wait until your of legal age .

Most of the time when an older guy is with someone younger like more then 3 years younger than them they want only one thing sex and they would leave the girl when they are fulfilled or a serious relationship my opinion is that you are to young for a 21 year old idea of a serious relationship just be friends.

I'm not absolutely sure but I think the age of consent is legally sixteen. However, if your parents really have a problems with this guy... they could take it to the police. If you really are into this guy though you should hold off until you are eighteen... you are legally an adult then and your parents can't do a thing about it. Be careful though, if they're serious about this whole going to the police business it could hurt you, this guy, the friendships... well all parties involved really.... Good luck!

Can and should are different things. Maybe you "can" but you really shouldn't. Think of it this way, he already has an idea about who he is and now is figuring out where a person like himself fits in the adult world. You're in a twilight of figuring out who you are, with protection from family and school structure. Your goals are necessarily very different. In the future, your age difference will matter less because you both will have matured. For now though, you need to be looking somewhere else for love or just waiting things out.

You're still in a minor age,you still need the guidance of your parents.Actually, what your parents did is for your good. Please obey your parents so that you wont regret at the end. There are of lot of guys don't worry if you lost him.I think you're not meant to each other or just wait for the right.Remember love can wait.

I f you decided to enter arelationship you should be ready to face the consequences and to accept whatever might happen,You know love is mysterious in az sense that the more it gives joy the more it inflict pain.

No, it is illegal for people over the age of 18 to ... er ... "fraternise" with people under the age of 18. If the two of you were discovered doing the horizontal bop, he could and most likely would be charged with statuatory rape, which will lead to his being forced to register as a Sex Offender for the rest of his life. Do you want that to happen? If not, then have a little patience and wait for your 18th birthday. If your relationship with this person was meant to be, he will still be there for you.

I think you should just keep it at a friendship level for now and once you get 18, you can start dating him. Take these two years to get to know each other and see if he's the one you really want to be with.

Its a bad idea in general for both parties, regardless of the law. As for whether or not it is legal in arkansas I believe the age of consent is 16.
